Title: pre hrt pics and questions
Post by: Eve of chaos on December 03, 2010, 12:04:39 AM
Hello! so I am new here but it seems like a great community.

so Ive been in therapy for a week now and my therapist wanted me to go all out and make myself look as female as possible and decide if im happy with myself. so i went ahead and shaved everything, bought a wig and my supportive girlfriend did my makeup and took the pictures.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/ninjaseikai/IMG_1115.jpg (http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/ninjaseikai/IMG_1115.jpg)

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/ninjaseikai/IMG_1137.jpg (http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/ninjaseikai/IMG_1137.jpg)

overall i dont know what to think, i feel like i just look like a drag queen and it bums me out, but i wanted to post them here to get some honest opinions and advice on what things stick out the most as male so i can consider my options with those first.

any feedback is appreciated^.^

Hi Ekuryua, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 4400 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

I would thin the eyebrows.  Shape them some.  As far as the thinking you look like a drag queen, that mostly comes from the outside world saying so.  But look to your heart and see what it says.  It will feel a little strange the first time.  After all we are taught that "boys don't do that".  But we are not boys.

Hugs and Love,
Janet

I know FTM guys don't ordinarily comment on MTF gals posts, but I just had to say that you are so pretty. Like, I don't even know how someone could say you look like a drag queen or anything of that sort. You are so beautiful and just from the pictures alone, you seem to exude a very feminine mood.

Since when ? We (at least I) love your posts ! ><'

Plus, Ekuryua, it really is not that bad. It's actually pretty good, especially for pre-HRT stuff !

Yes, I understand your feeling. It's like without an appropriate body, even though we are "at last dressing like we should", it feels like crossdressing at first. That's why I have yet to actually go out in full girl-mode. I feel I will at least need a start of transition, like the first psychological effects of HRT, for this.

ANYWAY. You have greater courage than I, and I believe you will do well !

i think the voice is whats keeping me from trying to pass in public, ive dressed silly to most people for years and im used to the stares, i had a pretty big mohawk for a few years as well, for the most part the things i'm into are'nt gender specific at all so it was harder to sort out my dysphoria.

i wouldnt really say i have too much courage, just the philosophy that jumping into the freezing pool and getting it over with is better than inching your way in :p

You will make it without any problem.

Good luck

I think you look great.   You shouldn't have anything to fear.

I want to be up front and honest, though.  The only thing that came to my attention was that your wig sort of looked like a wig to me.  My eyes were immediately drawn to it.  And then they went to your eyebrows.  I think  with the right wig or your natural hair, it would go a long way.

I might be over critical though, for some reason, wigs have never looked good to me.

I say with complete honest, you look really nice.

Your girlfriend is clearly good with makeup. There isn't a hint of drag queen there.

One thig I've learnt here in Susans' is, take it easy. The journey is a long one, but no-one has regretted taking it. Let's face it, we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't need to.

Welcome to Susans'. You're gonna love it. Hope your girl friend will join, possibly as a significant other.

You look great! Like was said before, I'd focus on the eyebrows and play with some different hairstyles. Surprisingly, you may find that an even shorter hair style makes you look even more feminine!

thank you so much everyone for all the kind words, when i look at these pictures i cant see my face as feminine. it could be because I'm used to my own face so its hard to adjust. or a number of other things i guess.

the main thing is i cant pinpoint my masculine features, and i know its early but i want a rough idea of a plan of everything i should save up for.

my guesses is the nose, and possibly the brow. i know i need to trim my eyebrows, im building up the courage to go get that done>.<

Which neatly brings up Susans' Lesson number Two. You are the worst judge.

Believe me, one of the more common problems people post in here is not being satisfied or confident with their own appearance.

yeah the eyebrows are first on my list, i think ill get those done somewhere and try again and perhaps ill post the updates in this thread, ive always dressed pretty unisex, the ones where im wearing pants those are pants ive always worn and the shirt had just been tightened and re cut.

btw you get extra props for the watership down quote in your sig^.^

Pluck your eyebrows and grow your hair out.  The thing that prevents you from passing, to me, in those pics is that the wig is obviously a wig.  Other than that, you just about pass.

And you pass 100% in your avatar pic.  Probably because your eyebrows are out of view and the wig looks more like natural hair.

My $0.02 is that you look fantastic! Seriously. I would not say 100% passable yet... although as stated by others thinning the eyebrows and growing out your natural hair will definitely get you most of the way there.

One thing that struck me immediately was how perfectly feminine your body structure is (hands/feet etc). I believe even you will be amazed at the changes you will go through on hormones!

On a side note, your sig Ekuryua wouldn't happen to be an anime reference to Seikai no Senki would it? If so, I think you'll find a lot of fellow anime lovers here at Susan's!  ;)

Best of Luck (not that you need it!)

omg! the seikai series is my all time favorite anime and story in the world! I didnt think anyone would notice^.^

but yeah ive always had freakishly small feet and hands for a boy so that is a plus for me. my biggest concerns are my boy hair and my nose. and the voice. im having lots of trouble with that.

I was also always told by the girls in during high school that i had a girls butt haha.

but just to hear all these good comments on my first attempt is wonderful, im in the process of growing my hair out now but i think its gonna be awhile before its where i want it, and im hopefully gonna do the eyebrows tomorrow and take more pictures^.^

Hi,

You already look quite good, so you do not have to do much to look genuinely female.  The first thing that struck me, and it is merely a personal opinion, but your eyebrows are just a tad too thick (possibly just on the outside).  They look a bit more male than female.  I would work on the eyebrows a bit and a year or two on HRT and I cannot imagine anyone saying that you look like a guy anymore.  The clothing could be more inline with female attire, but it is the person that makes the gender, not the clothes, although sometimes clothing helps.

Sadly, a couple of people posted the same comment just as I typed mine.  It appeared as I was trying to post my comment, so now you have three people saying the same thing, although I still one.

My recommendation is to tweeze first and see which eyebrows you like and then go for electrolysis.  I had electrolysis on my eyebrows.

I think you look cute too. :) You definitely have feminine features - a small chin, smooth jawline, good shaped mouth, and your nose looks fine to me despite what you say. A little large in profile, but I've seen similar noses on bio-girls. Maybe your eyes look a bit small on your face without shaped eyebrows, but there are tricks with makeup that can make them look larger and more feminine. In the first photo you posted, your neck seemed thicker than typical, but it's not a big concern. Your posture and mannerisms definitely look female to me, and especially from the back it looks like you have a female shape -definitely a girl's butt, as you said. The butt/hips/legs look very female to me in fact, that in combination with your mannerisms makes it easy for me to see why people are calling you ma'am from the back. The shoulders - lots of women have wide shoulders. Lots of models have wide shoulders in fact, and the continuation of shoulder pads in women's wear shows they're often seen positively. Don't worry about them.

Not bad for pre-HRT.  The habit of trying to prove yourself as a beast isn't a good one as it's a fruitless endeavor.  There's just no evidence to support that claim.  Your shoulders are fine, I wish mine were as thin as yours.  What will probably happen is that the male V shaped torso will start to go away.  You'd be surprised what hormones will do.  I know I was.

Oh you look lovely for a start Ekuryua and you just mentioned something. Eyebrows!
Oh my god I am just thinking about the plucking and...   Well it's for the best outcome I suppose but if it's anything like pulling a nose hair which I am sure some of the older ladies have experienced.

"Shudders"  PS never do that while driving it can cause collision with the curb!

I had my electrologist take out a few of my nose hairs and I can tell you that it hurts, but thankfully only very briefly and then no cutting.  Sadly, they do not do all of the nose hairs (by law).  My electrologist said that nose hairs are necessary, but at least the outer ones near the front, which everyone sees can go.

You'll be fine hun...you already have a very feminine face and if you get the odd m'am from behind you obvious;y have a head start in the female posture and body language department, so don't worry at all.

Having your eyebrows done willl help a lot, you don't have to do it all in one go, just give them a slightly more feminine shape to start and gradually shape them more and more...it's what i did, you can kind of chart my transition through how my eye brows have progressively become more shaped.  ;D

I'm suprised your therapist would have suggested that you "go all out".  Actually now that I wrote that, I take that back, sort of.  Way back when I complained to my therapist that I hated a particular skirt and top combination I had.  I'd actually never worn the two together, but I dreaded how they'd look.  His reaction was pretty much the same, how do you know if you don't try it?  It turned out it was a decent combination.

So, forgetting what anyone else thinks, what do you think?  That's the real point of the exercise.  You can't really compare pre-HRT with any time on hormones so just ask yourself how does it make you feel and worry about passing or not later.

well i know i really like the hairstyle and color, even though it looks completely fake being a wig, but in certain pics i can see it and it makes me happy, very very happy, my avatar pic being the main one. ive kepy up on shaving my body hair because that always depressed me, in the long run i think its made me feel better, i need a better way to get rid of the beard though, i cant get a close enough shave and i can still see it.

all i know is i have a very exact picture in my mind of who i want to be and dress and style and such and I always have. and for the most part my lifestyle didnt restrict that, what i need to know is how it feel to be seen by others as a woman and im trying to get myself to pass sooner rather than later because itll really help my decision.

Don't rush into things.  Someone once compared transition to crossing the ocean, you can do it in a speedboat or an oceanliner.  The analogy should be obvious.  Let the picture be your guide, but don't be suprised if it changes along the way.  Whether your genitals are factory original or end up being aftermarket parts, life is a journey of discovery.

Plucking isn't bad at all, unless, as has been pointed out, you're doing nose hairs.

Tip:  If your chest/abdomen is hairy, don't waste time trying to shave it.  Get it WAXED!  Seriously.  I went for a salon wax last weekend, they did my back, chest and abdomen, and it was to DIE for.  Nothing like Steve Carrell in "The 40-year-old Virgin" (he's a weenie).  And for arms and legs (but not underarms) nothing beats an epilator.

Looking at you Eukarya your face has alot of promise looking at it there is nothing male about any of your bone structure your forehead is feminine and your jaw is small and unpronounced. I can see why you have a problem with your upper shoulders but it's really not that bad but if you can't come to terms with it you can change it. (I've heard of transwomen corseting to alter that not to mention the slimming upper body effect HRT will have on you so you shouldn't think that situation is hopeless. You have your youth and I think you will do exceedingly well :)

I've heard of corset training and I've been looking into it not only for a figure but also to help with my posture. but you say ti can help my shoulders as well? does it compress the ribcage thus bringing the shoulders in? I don't really see how it can affect my upper body haha.

It IS possible to alter bone structure with a corset. But any modification coming from that will endanger your health.

(I originally made a new topic for this in the "just for us" section but then decided I didn't care if anyone I know saw.  I also thought its better not to clutter so i deleted it and added it here)

Ok so I finally got around to getting my eyebrows waxed and shaped. I also went thrifting for 20 minutes before goodwill closed and grabbed a couple of tops :p

anyway the wigs the same but i threw in a couple with my natural hair at the end for good measure. I also tried to get more angles.

I kinda wanna know if at first glance you'd automatically assume I was a girl. although i feel its the opposite.

What I'm trying to do is get to a passing point so i can try a public experience, and I know I dont pass, but I cant figure out why. so once again all feedback is welcome!

You're adorable  :)
I'm not a big fan of the last outfit, but I like the other two.  My only advice would be to be careful with makeup.  In my personal opinion, most girls look better with a "less is more" approach.  It's amazing what some good foundation and a little eyeliner can do!

aw thank you!

I dont think im a fan of that outfit either, all those pics look off to me as well. but yeah I let the girf do the makeup again and she did it like she does hers, which is heavy eye stuff. im thinking its not so great for me though>.<

Looking at you first glance no it wouldn't, but that's not a criticism, Really you've only just started out, what makes me think no is your fat distribution, and beard shadow a certain flatness around the face.

Your dress sense is decent unassuming and not exhibitionist :)

Many of the very pretty women on our forum here didn't look female at all prior to there transition and hormone treatment, I think you have an excellent starting position and will end up like one of them and much better than I look :) don't worry I will be envying you soon enough.

Let me start by saying you are quite adorable and I think your natural hair is better then the wig.  In fact I think you should head to a stylist because you have the volume to start going natural.

Makeup I agree that less maybe more in your case.  You have high cheekbones that's a good thing!

The outfits.  Um well it's probably my age but the torn nylons didn't do it for my. You're legs are nice with out them.  The outfits were fab.  You're poses were also fab so frankly GO GIRL!

On a scale of 1 to 10 in the fashion category you get a 8.2

On a scale of 1 to 10 in the posture category you get a 8.9

On a scale of 1 to 10 in the makeup category you get a 8.1

Over all results. 85%
That's a pass in my books!

Hugs Simone.

PS I wish I looked as nice^^

I loved outfit #2 on you.  That looked the best.  Your legs seem pretty muscular for the shorter skirts your wearing.   Perhaps something a little longer and more A-Line.  Also, when you hold your arms in front of you like in picture http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/ninjaseikai/IMG_1169.jpg (http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/ninjaseikai/IMG_1169.jpg), something doesn't look right.

I also LOVE your natural hair!   I think, honestly, you should toss the wig.  I thought you were balding to or something, but that's definitely not the case! It's got a little Mullet thing going on there, but it isn't too bad.  With your punk-ish style, the hair works very well with it.

Not a fan of the torn jeans, but I never was.  Your natural hair looks very good.  The wig looks like, well, a wig.

But you are cute in all of them.

Well, uh, I think your first pictures looked better. I just feel those outfits don't... fit. Especially the torn stuff. Plus, the make-up, I think it may be too much.

But anyway, all of these pictures show again that your starting point is great. Passing is not quite there for now, but it's normal, as you have not started anything at all.

The problem with my natural hair is that its still growing out from the mohawk days. so the only long parts are straight down the middle, with the back being longer giving it the mullet look haha. but I can really cut it since the sides are still so short. i will have to do something though as its probably a factor in why I can get a job. :/

I am thinking now though that I wont be able to get to a "passing" point without HRT

curse my beard as well!

I like your natural hair. With all the colours and texture in it, I bet even when it's short you could get a fantastic cut. Maybe something layered and fun like this: http://www.short-hairstyles.com/zoom/s88.jpg (http://www.short-hairstyles.com/zoom/s88.jpg) (excuse me if that's a terrible suggestion, I'm not used to thinking of passing in the opposite direction lol).

You look good with the shaped eyebrows, and like I said before, it really helps that you have such a nice chin and overall face shape. One suggestion - might be good to lighten up on the eyeshadow on the outer corners of your eyes. I don't know why, but something about it looks questionable.

I would probably avoid a really short pixie cut.  It can look really good on some people, but shorter hair does tend to be more masculine.

Nah, I think you'll be ok judging from the pictures above.

You might also think about getting your color pallet professionally done for the makeup.   Go to a MAC store or something and they'll help you out.

I say that because some of your color choices don't blend well with your complexion.

Outfit 2 top rules, but doesn't fit with the black jeans and boots. Wear black like it should be worn- with an Exodus shirt on or something!

That top and hat are insanely cute though- maybe try some nice tight dark blue jeans?

You are insanely cute though. I wouldn't think twice if I didn't have my transdar on.

but you're not presently passable (but perhaps from a good distance you are).

But you're not at a bad starting place.... if that helps any.
