As you all know, I've been wanting to go full time for some time now, and here we are starting another new year, and I have now decided that I am going to start going part time.
A few weeks ago, I was leaving my apartment to go to a gender freindly night club. As I left my apartrment, I saw a neighbor, but didn't make too much out of it as I quickly rushed to my truck and drove off. A few day later I was going out, and I saw my neighbor and I complimented her on her Christmas decoration. She came over to me and asked if that was me that was dressed, and I told her it was, and she told me that I looked great! So I felt good that I'll have no problems with coming and going from my apartment, if some of you may remember the problem I had a few months ago with another neighbor going to management and complaining. I have also decided that I'm going to be changing churches, for I don't feel that the church that I've been attending for eight years would feel comfortable with me being there. Especially since my parents are still members. :o Things are going to be changing for the better for this New Year! :)
Gina :)
Congratulation Gina. I hope it works out well for you.
Melissa
what were your neighbours grounds for complaint? as i belive they cant do anything if its because your TS...
also, congrats on being so open, its often best, and people are nicer than our paranoid minds lead us to belive! :)
You go GIRL! :D
I hope the new year brings you everything you hope for and lots of girl-time! *giggles*
*hugs*
Genevieve
Sounds cool, Gina.
What about your job situation? How will that be affected?
Peace,

Thanks Melissa for your warm hearted words as always. This is going to be a really good new year for me and thsi time I want to get things started with no more set backs.
I live in a low income apartment community, and one day a neighbor sees me dressed as a woman, and it's going to cause some suspicion. But on the report, it stated that I had been staring at some kids. All I had done was left my apartment, and glanced at a bunch of nieghbors that were sitting together as I quickly went to my truck and drove away. I had been given a week to correct the problem or I would have been evicted. So I spoke with management, and without even telling them that I'm a transsexual, I was able to clear my name.
I hope that with just starting with the weekends, it should give me enough 'girl-time' Genevieve. Then later on I plan on moving it more into after work, and then eventually it will lead into full time. :)
Thanks for your concern Kristi, but since I'm just going to be doing it for the weekends to start, I don't think it will affect my job.
Gina
Hi Gina,
I started off part time.
I did nearly 5 months presenting as Male at work and living as Female outside of work and weekend.
This was for a variety of reasons and I actually learned a lot during this period
It became difficult the further I went on as I didn't really want to change back to being "the guy" after the weekend.
The last thing I did was talk at a conference, wearing a suit and tie (afterwards I cried my eyes out) and left the offending Items in a hotel room in Belguim.
Going full time is a big step, Part time is a good lead into it.
Buffy
what do you girls suggest for university? i mean, im not at work, and its fairly imperosnal, straight to ft? or girl outside of lectures?
Thanks Buffy for your words of encouragement. I'm just going to take it a step at a time and see what develops.
I just had a great offer from my MTF friend, who is going through a transition and we're in love with each other and if I move and live with her, I'll be going full time! :) But that won't be until next year. :(
Gina :)
Hi Gina,
Nice to hear you have an understanding neighbor, now. Going part-time sounds like a great way to go, but watch out for that Monday letdown...even for us "sometimers" it can be tough.
Best of luck with your girlfriend, in love and full time--think you can wait for next year????
Hugs.........Laurie
Hey all.
I'm new and will get to an intro in the proper section in just a moment but Rachel has a question that I can answer! Rachel, I'm a college aged TS as well and I have gone full time at school. Even with a fairly conservative college (though not religious or anything) I have gotten a good reception and people tend to be okay with me. At college you are treated in so many ways like an adult that all of my professors etc. assume that I can make my own decision. Check this link out.

It's from Lynn Conway's site. Very good.
The biggest trick for me has been that my parents are (currently) rather disapproving so I've had to work around that. That also means that I'm still pre-HRT and electro. The trick is a pretty good presentation. Just like always.

Hi Gina. I'm going to be a little blunt with you and I hope I don't hurt your feelings, but am trying to provide a little constructive information. I have noticed it seems you are constantly falling for one person or another without much success. It's my observation that you seem to cling onto whatever you can for a love life. I honestly don't know your internal motivations that cause this, but one thing I have discovered is that when you can be happy while alone, you can be even happier while with somebody else. Now, perhaps you are at this point, but your actions of constant pursuit tell me otherwise. I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but sometimes it helps to get an outside perspective on things. :)

Hi Gina. I've been 'part time' for quite a while now, and I think maybe I'll just keep it that way. The only people I'm 'out' (gawd, I hate that word) to is my wife, who is my supportive soulmate, friend, and lover for the last 3 decades, and also one of my churches female pastors, who thinks it's just wonderful. At work, I still wear male clothes, but feel better knowing that I wear women's black walking shoes. I used to bind (ouch!), but not anymore. I'll wear a bra under my shirt, usually a Bali sport bra, thin shoulder straps, or just nothing at all if the shirt is big enough. I have a nice close network of friends there, mostly female, and still get along ok with the guys, 'tho we don't share many of the same interests. Members of my church see me at work now and then, and comment on my hair...usuall 'looks nice!' now that I'm growing it out. My wife does NOT want to leave our church, and says if anyone knows, and objects, then they can just keep to themselves.
A couple of things go into play to help here.....my 'up yours if ya don't like it attitude', and, not minding blending clothes of both genders. I identify as Lesbian, so it's ok with me.
I wish you all the best in the new year ahead, and iner peace.
Bev

It's obviously up to you, but if I were in that position I would be ft in a second.
No hard feelings Melissa. I think that what you're trying to tell me is that I am looking for love too much. Unfortunately, that's what my therapist has told me as well. :( But I've been corresponding with this new person for a year, and she knows the way that I feel, and she's actually excited about the posibilities of us living together. So maybe things are finally changing for me.
Hey Bev, that's really cool that your wife is so supportive of you. I once tried wearing a bra to work, but I think my sister saw something and snitched to my mom about it and she told me to take it off. I may try the sport bra. As long as they are less noticable. You see my sister is so much against me, that once I was wearing a blue saphire and a pink saphire earring, and she snitched to my mom about it, and her comment was: "Can't you tell what you are?" So I have to be very descrete with what I do. As for church, I'll worry about that later. Right now I don't want to stir the pot anymore than have to, if you know what I mean. But over all, you know it's really a person's own choice if they want to go full time or just stay part time. It all comes down to what they are comfortable with. As for me, it could change, but right now I'm going to enjoy being the real me! :)
Gina :)
Rachael, why wait? Many of us have some serious obstacles like marraige, kids, and that sort of thing. I can tell you that if I hadn't been held up every step of the way in my church/social environment, I would have had everything done before I was 21. It took me almost another decade to get through all that other business.
Now, don't interpret this as advice to move ahead with it. You need to do what is right for you. I'm just saying that now is a good time to test the waters since you have no major comitments. No matter what you decide. Enjoy your life and your youth. You only get to live it once!
Chin up!

The main thing I waited for was my hair to grow long enough, enough facial hair gone (via laser for speed), and hormonal changes. For starting therapy to going fulltime, was less than 9 months (including legal name change). If you feel you could do it now, then I say go for it. Make a checklist of everything that needs to be completed before going fulltime and check as many things off as humanly possible. That's the approach I took and I tried to have all items either be complete or pending something like a date or receiving something in the mail (post) or awaiting funds. If I could take immediate action I would. However, if you have a better way, then go for that. :) Good luck.

I did nearly 5 months presenting as Male at work and living as Female outside of work and weekend.
How does that work though? Like dressing extremely male at work, hiding the hair somehow, etc.? And outside of work... wearing extremely female (not androgynous) clothing, styling the hair more feminine, etc.?

Since I did the same thing, I'll try and explain. At some point, you start looking pretty androgynous. It's more of a matter of pushing it to one side or the other of the androgony line. Eventually the "male" look wasn't quite being so effective (getting maamed while presenting as male or being obviously treated as female) and that's when it was time to go fulltime.
Melissa
Had a great time over the weekend. I was dressed fairly casual; I wore a nice top and a pair of tight jeans and my white skimmers. I went to the library and to the flea market and I had no problems at either place, which made me feel really good. Really builds on the coinfidence! When I stopped at a variety store, a gentleman was a few steps ahead of me, and he kindly held the door for me. Can't wait until the next weekend!!!

I haven't been having the slightest problem at school. In fact, the GG seem fascinated with what I'm doing, and while we don't sit around and gab about it, in fact no conversation has ever taken place, theyre simply accepting Amanda happily.
Hey Gina :)
You are truly beautiful, brave, and blessed. I'm really happy for you and hope it goes better than your wildest expectations. I'm worried about you and the low-income housing, poverty is the best breeding ground for hate and intolerance...please, please, please just be careful.
*hugs*
~Mandy~
Thanks Amanda for your sweet words about me. :) Thanks for your concern about my living, but as said I've got a few neighbors who have seen me and they're very comfortable with it. So as said, it makes it easier for me to come and go as my feminine self. :)
