I wanted to know about how long it took those of you on testosterone to stop "bleeding" or how many cycles you've had since starting testosterone. I'm on my third and it's exceptionally horrible. Pre-T I would get hot flashes, now they're much worse. Cramps are worse and my dysphoria surrounding this process used to be next to non-existent and now it's amplified. I'm not sure as to how much longer I'll continue with this process but I'm really hoping this is the last one (although I've been saying that each time).
My endocrinolgist informed me that it could take up to 6 cycles before it goes away...I couldn't tell you my experience since I haven't started T yet...
I hope it ends for you soon man.
I had my first shot a few days before my expected period. I got that period, which was sometime around September 25th (my first shot was September 20th) That period was my last one. I have been on T almost 4 months.
Also weird: I wasn't "regular" until I started T. Now everything is like clock work!
Mine was like Elijah.
it took me 4 months after taking T to get rid of that nightmare.
I've been on t for 4 months and still have my cycle. However, I had the exact opposite happen to me. As each month passed, things got lighter and where I used to have horrible cramps everytime, I now have next to nothing for cramps. Crossing my fingers that my next one doesn't come around.
I started T a week before I was supposed to get it again, I got that one and haven't had one since. I've been on T for a year.
I pretty much stopped right away. The only problem I had was actually recently when I changed to a shorter acting ester...the damn thing came back....went back on the long acting stuff at full dose so I should be ok again...
Thought I could get away with reducing the dose and changing esters at my age but obviously not...the menstrual cycle is surprisingly resilient....
Mine stopped 3-4 days after my first injection.

same for me.
I had one a few days after my first shot, and I'm due in a week or two. Crossing my fingers lol
My first shot of T was on the second day of my period and it stopped it in it's tracks, haven't had one since.

I will add to this again based on my recent experience of dropping dose/changing ester and the period coming back....
I took a larger shot the day it looked like it started and it did stem the flow - it was totally manageable in that respect - however I was still left with horrible cramps for a week.....not an experience I intend to repeat this month....I am on it....lol!
I had one miserable one about 2 days after my first shot, and another lighter one about 5 weeks later, and some very light spotting about 6 weeks after that. Haven't had any bleeding since.
I don't want to be on T and still get cramps every month. That would be really bad to still cramps and be down the as having a full period.
I am having a major sad face on this matter right now. I was hoping I was finally done with all this crap but it decided to hit last night again. Crossing my fingers for it to be the last one.
I hope it is for you, aLex
I started my first injection January 4th and I got my period a few days ago. The cessation of my menstrual cycles is one of the many things about transitioning that I'm most looking forward to - I just hope it will be quick and I won't still be waiting 4 months into therapy like some of the less fortunate guys are in this thread. :(
Got mine again this month after years on T...just weird. Nothing major....but still 'there' if you know what I mean....ah the wonders of the female anatomy....lol!!
Maybe its a crazy re appearance on the border of menopause.....no idea......
1 week after my first shot, i got my period. that was the last one.
Well, I just had my dosage changed so hopefully that will do it.
I got my first shot. The next day it started and that was the last one.
I haven't stopped, but then again, who knows what's going wrong with me.
I've been on my period for 44 days now. :\
Mine stopped when I went to a "full" dose.
Myles
i had three, then the fourth one lasted half a day and never came back ;D
My PCOS has stopped my periods completely. Unfortunately that can be bad for my health. Oh well...I wouldn't cry if my ovaries shrivled up and died.
Just started my 4th one today. Hurts like hell, feel like crap! My dose increased a month ago. I'm going to ask about increasing it again.
I got my first shot about four or five days before the last cycle I had. It was lighter and less horrible. Still had cramps, but they kicked in later, and went away faster. I haven't had one since, but a little bit of cramping that flares up at random points and then goes away. Talked to some people that said it's my organs dealing with being given less blood flow and perhaps shutting down. It's really not bad. For all of this who are dealing with periods... I would get your levels checked. You might just need a higher dose, and it won't do any harm to raise it just a little (at least, in most cases -- obviously consult with your doctor).

I got 'em checked. They're normal/low. My doctor increased my dose a little over a month ago and I'm still getting it. I can't afford to get my levels checked again.
I've had my 4th injection yesterday and
got the red death monday. This cycle seems significantly lighter though. As in it only lasted 2 days. They usually last 4 or 5 days. Does this mean I may not get it next month? I wonder.
It never ceases to amaze me how resilient the female menstrual cycle is...crazy!!!
I heard back from my doctor today because I was still getting it and he upped my dose again. Stuff is complicated but now I'm at the dose he wanted me to be on originally.
UPDATE!
It has been 16 days since my last period started. I've been spotting (I think that's what it is) for a few days and before that it was a regular flow. I think my uterus hates me. Luckily it's a mutual thing.
*stabs your uterus and sends it to outer space in a time capsule* Sorry they're taking so long to go away. :( Crossing my fingers for next month.
Maybe its the last hurrah.

D:
It's just that this one has lasted 16 days. I have to be cautious about things and it's all grrrr
Took me 8 months. 8 miserable months for the damn thing to go away. I also was on a fairly low dose for most of that time. It took a lot of poking and prodding at my doc to get her to up it to a dose that made it stop. She never would let me go up to the dose that is standard for most trans guys I've heard of, but if it's enough that that awful nonsense stopped, I've let it go.
Uh... It's been a whole damn year and a week, and I just started again.
I had a 50-day period not too long ago in which I got really sick and such. :\
I want my hysto so bad. ._.
I do my 6th injection tomorrow. VERY much hoping it won't happen this month (or ever again for that matter.)
It's funny to me...women can't wait to get their first period (and even compete with each other like in the book "Are You There, God? It's me, Margaret" by Judy Blume) but with us FTM's it's like "damn, is it ever gonna END?"

Me when I read that book and realized periods may happen to me:
Edit: Meh, dumb picture insert thingie.

Had one after my first shot but nothing since then. Had some cramping at around 2 months and was afraid the evil thing would happen but so far so good and I'm definitely hoping it doesn't happen again
