Just take Estro-maxx once a day, and no longer will hormone treatments get in the way of leading a regular life. Haha, y'all! Did everyone get the joke? Trans people are hilarious! Are we all ready to take offense at Saturday Night Live's brand of trans humor?

Yeah, I for one am.  They should have called, I would have written them something much more funny and cutting edge, all in all it was the easy sketch to write.  I remember when they were really good.

I just watched it... I really dont see how its funny. I this is the best they can come up with then they really need to look for new jobs...

There are so many funny aspects to being trans that they could have picked on....

Personally I would have looked at the driving skills of transwomen.... I know mine have deteriorated since I came out (my mind is on a higher plane these days)..  ;D ;D

and I certainly dont get man flu any more.... it just doesnt happen ::) ::)

The facial hair and complete lack of trying to make the voice sound remotely feminine is what made me roll my eyes...
The wording wasn't "terrible"..
The whole "on the go" thing, as a commentary on all the shortcuts people take in the world, had potential though.

I thought it was hilarious... but not because of the TS theme.  As a spoof of drug commercials, it is actually pretty good.  Maybe it's because of my odd sense of humor, but the commercial really didn't bother me.

These types of spoofs are only funny when they exaggerate things.  If they would have portrayed transsexuals realistically, it probably wouldn't have been funny.

American satire is not really directed at those of us outside the States. But I wonder if we might be taking this a little too seriously.

Is it really likely to have an effect upon the impressions of Americans?

The UK is a very class structured society, so the only satire that tends to be broadcast is aimed at middle class types. Working class satire tends to be concentrated on private clubs and occasionally theatres. But frequently, some people try to draw offense, especially when it might be directed at holy cow issues.

Satire seems to be part of European culture. I'm sure other cultures have it as well.

In the case of this, one look at those people featured. I doubt any transwomen would ever present themselves like that.

That's what makes it funny.  Satire is something that is making a statement by presenting the opposite of what it displays.  In this case the "transsexuals" in the skit are so obviously acting like guys that it is funny.  It's funny because no actual transsexual would ever act like that.

I'll admit I giggled at the skit.  I thought it was funny. *shrug*  It was probably the spoof on drug commercials that got me to giggle, or the guy was exercising and his obviously-fake-breasts were bouncing up and down or the guy in the beginning saying something like "hello girls" for his obviously-fake-breasts or it could have been any other thing that made me giggle. If it had had a girl taking "Testo-maxx" or whatever instead, I would have still giggled.
