Ha ha, had this happen.  She couldn't understand when I told her I had never had one, so I had to explain the scenario to help her understand.  Poor dear, I felt a bit sorry for her....but I still kept laughing at her plight.

PAP smear, periods, when someone asks if you have a spare tampon, when mothers and daughter drop their clothes in front of you (to change) without hesitation, when someone asks you about your own PMS, cramps, or flow, when YOU have no hesitation about being naked in front of other women, when men talk to your boobs ..... and the list goes on and on .....

This week I went to a skin specialist.  She examined me and we talked for a while about what could cause the problem for women.  I asked about one medication and she kept telling me that it wasn't recommended for women (interferes with fetal development and hasn't been tested thoroughly on women).  Finally, I said: "I think there's something I should tell you..."  She just looked at me and said: "Well, you completely fooled me."  Then she would talk about the issue.  Then she would say: "You just really fooled me."  She couldn't get over it.  She must have said it half a dozen times.

It was a huge boost to my confidence. ;D  Unbelievably, I think I'm finally there. :icon_chick:

Nurse: When was your last period?
Me: I don't have periods.

Nurse: When did you go through menopause?
Me: I didn't. I have never had periods.

Nurse: BLANK STARE
Me: I was born without ovaries or a uterus.

Nurse: Oh my! I am sorry!

When you go to your GP for bladder infection and he asks if you're having any menstrual problems as well... :P

Doctor; do you have problems with your menstrual cycle?
Me; no I don't... I have to tell you I'm a transsexual
Doctor; ooh. really, so you're going to transition from girl to boy... must be really though! (I'm MtF)
Me; well, I have transitioned many years ago
Doctor; never would have guessed. Now I see why you don't have periods *still confused*

LOL... Just remembered this.
many years ago (after transition) I was at a doctors office for a medical check up for employment.
I was in the gown when the doctor came in, rummaged through a drawer and got out a speculum...
"Put your feet in the stirrups and relax" he said.
But Doctor, I am a preop ts. Says I.
Really? May I look? After that he left the room.
A few seconds later a nurse came in, picked some thing up off a table, turmned, looked at me and left.
A minute later another nurse did the same thing.
Hehehe. They looked soooo confused  :)

I got the job  :)

Being called a "bitch" by angry customer.  Really happened to me.  Tried to explain to a customer why some was taken before him.  They were waiting longer.

He gets all bent out of shape and calls me a "bitch".  Two male customers came to protect me.  But the jerk left.

When cars full of dudebros pass by you and they say, "Hey baby, do you need a ride?" Ugh, that's a part of being recognized as a woman I would rather not deal with. Also, when you compliment a cis woman's wardrobe/make-up/etc. and they don't get creeped out.

I went to the hospital last night, had an accident, bad fall onto some cinder blocks, fell on my left side, thought I damaged something real bad, thankfully no broken ribs or organ damage, maybe some small fractures, doc couldn't really tell. But anyway, they kept asking me if I was pregnant, or when was your last period, this has been the case every time I've gone to the emergency room for the past decade, last times was for vertigo, and then a kidney stone the following week, before that various other things, such as lung problems. My mom, even after we told them that I'm a transsexual, had to come out and explain more bluntly that its impossible for me to get pregnant, that I don't have female parts, that I'm a man (physically), just living as a woman. I know even still they didn't quite get it, I suppose I can understand to some extend with the people around here, even nurses and doctors, in this small town, but last time I was asked was a hospital in northern Virginia, in the middle of the city, and unlike where I live now, you'd think that there in the city that they have had some encounters with other transgender patients and at least know a little something. But hey, whatever, I'm fine with that, I'm recognized as a woman. :)

After a long morning at work, I went outside to clear my head and smoke a cigarette.
The company I work for has a lot of foreign visitors and I saw a young man at the smoking area, guessed his nationality as Nigerian and went up to say Hi...

As I approached he reached for my just lit smoke.
"You shouldnt be smoking that!"
What? Confused I stepped back.
It will harm your baby! He said

No. Not pregnant, just fat I replied....

Is that passing or what!

I really knew it a couple years ago when I went to Canada for a conference. On the way home I was on the bus and a woman sat down beside me and said, "I'm so glad you had a seat beside you. When I travel I'm always afraid I'll have to sit beside a man." Or later in the trip, I was in a bus station ladies room brushing my teeth. A woman comes up and says, "I'm so glad you're doing that. When I'm alone, I'm always a little embarrassed to brush my teeth in the restroom." Generally strange women talking to you in the restroom means you're passing.

I'm not post op so I hope I'm not being invasive  :-\  She didn't come out and accuse me, but my apt. mgr. did inform me that it was against the rules to flush tampons, napkins and/or pads down the toilet... She then went further to explain the proper way of disposing of the above mentioned items... I just agreed and said that's what I do

From an official standpoint, I would probably have to say when I got stopped for a non-moving violation and the Trooper looked at my recently renewed license (name was the only change at the time, no court order was used- the new plastic was barely a week old) and pointed out that the clerk had made a mistake.  When I questioned what he was saying, he noted that the clerk had put an M on there and that I probably ought to go back to DPS and get them to change it...he said the citation he wrote would be enough to get them to fix it.  He was right.  That was 20-25 years ago...

I work in Mental Health. One night we had to seclude a man because he was being threatening. Afterwards I looked through the little seclusion room window and he said "You F-ing Bitch". I just started giggling. I don't think that was the reaction he expected at all.  >:-)

Then there was the time shortly before I started my transition that a man actually screamed and ran out of the bathroom because he thought he'd walked into the women's by mistake. that's when I started using the women's bathroom.

Two things happened lately.. I was getting a prescription filled and they made me initial this form that I wasn't pregnant and didn't plan to become pregnant.

The other is a married couple I have known for years (that has been very supportive of my transition) all of a sudden a few weeks ago the wife got "weird" about me spending time with her hubby (no more than I have for years). Seems she now sees me as a threat and through a mutual friend accused me of trying to "be the other woman" :P That totally came out of left field for me!  I have zero interest in him in that way and already have a boyfriend I have been with for almost 3 years and she knows that.. Sad that it looks like I lost a good friend over this but did feel good that I'm good looking enough she was worried I might steal her hubby away from her!

When people mistake you for your wife and sons mother? My wife looks like she's in her early 20's despite having just reached 30. Some had even taken her for being in her teens, owing much to her height and baby face. Twice now people have referred to me, when speaking to her, as her mother! :P

I was pleased and somewhat chagrined at the same time!  :P

"Or when people ask if a guy you happen to be somewhere with is your husband? "

You could answer a la Julia Roberts in 'Pretty Woman',  "No, I'm just using him for sex!!!" >:-)

When you're in the wedding party and all the groomsmen say you're better looking than the other bridesmaids and buy you drinks to congratulate you.

When an ex boyfriend of mine many years ago insisted on always wearing a condom everytime we had intercourse just be be sure I didn't get pregnant, ''we don't want any accidents'' he use to say.
I knew then I was Truly Recognized As A Woman by him as he had no knowledge I was trans.

Eh, that sucks Zoë,

self had one VERY good day. All Madam and Mrs. and pushing my small shopping trolley this morning, when something fell out - one VERY nice man rushed to pick it up for me before I could even make a move!
So SWEET, if things like that happen it give one SUCH a lift, not so? And YES! There are nice men, no question!
Rest of the day was Mrs. this and Mrs. that and I get these appreciative looks that say to me... old girl, but still in good shape.
A day of smiles.

Axelle
PS: And a day to be grateful for providence AND E, hehe.

Axel,

You do look like a woman, so you'll probably get that stuff more and more.  I see you have some big dates coming up on your ticker.  I probably don't have people pick stuff up for me like that because I'm kind of aggressive.

OliveLevel,
that's so sweet of you to comment. Thank you honey!

Maybe age has something to do with it too? If we lots younger I'm not sure we'd get the same Victorian gentleman reactions :-)
At least something just a littel extra for us old girls, eh.

Mentioning your being more aggro could have to do with T?
Not sure where you stand with HRT, but it be my first guess. Second guess be just some PMS that we all get at times.
Don't think for a moment I'm all sweetie pie. I do have my inner bitch. But nice things like your comment, and this gentleman just melt it away. Getting all woozy :-)

Ta, ta,
Axelle

Ya Axelle, don't get too cozy.  You made me real mad with your comment on castrati.  I am aggressive, and I like it.  And I take T. And I like it.

Eh
* Ya Axelle, don't get too cozy.  You made me real mad with your comment on castrati.  I am aggressive, and I like it.  And I take T. And I like it. *

Ok, then please go take a hike walk and get prissy about all those other folks killed mutilated and have their life ruined during all those past wars, ever recalled.
Hope it gets you in the mood, that?

What you overlook here, is that A LOT of castrati got castrated by their consent! So don't go so righteous on me with your lack of knowing, dude.

Not only was it to keep their voices, but also to get best jobs possible at e.g. the Chinese Emperor's Palace. They had their penis removed as a matter of fact, AND ALL WAS BY CONSENT.
Now kindly go and enjoy being aggro if it makes you feel that good.

In case it's not clear, I also do have an inner bitch that enjoys to come out at time like these.
Cheers,
Axelle

...When you just are.   When you have the confidence to do anything, to hold your head high, to look anyone right in the face and never worry one bit about someone thinking you are something you are not.  When you live your life every single day as who you are without even thinking about it.  Maybe someone sees, maybe someone thinks something, you never notice and anyway you couldn't care less.

The biggest obstacle to being recognized as a woman is not seeing yourself that way.  Do you think women without transsexual history ever worry about being recognized as women?  Doesn't matter if they're old, or fat, or tall, or ugly, or thinning hair, or even a few whiskers on their chins.  When you are so rock solid in your own identity that the thought never even enters your mind that you would be seen as anything less, then it's amazing how much the rest of the world will follow along.

Has this ever happen to you that happen to me today, I sometimes visit an old lady neighbor who lives nearby, on Sunday I sometimes bring her dinner, as Im already cooking for myself and Mark, it doesn't take much to cook for 1more, last few days Iv had flu symptoms feeling hot and she kinda notice, she took me by surprise as I was going and says to me, ''are you ok Pauline, its ok every woman gets hot flushes, its natural going thru the change, menopause is not an illness, just go with it, just ring if you don't call by, I understand, anytime if you want to talk about it, I went thru it, men don't understand these things, my husband never did.''

I was completely taken by surprise, but for me it was awesome moment, hard to describe, an older woman so super sweet and helpful to a younger woman, for me it was a lovely feminine shared moment, menopause, hot flushes wow omg, only women, woman to woman talk about these things.
Truly recognized as a woman I surposed, awesome, it made my day.......

When you Show up to DnD Night and your friends don't recognized you.  (thats how I came out to a small group of them, jsut showed up as me)  And one guy ask if your a new cleaning lady.  And another asks if he knows you.  Then finally I'm really embarrassed and start telling them I'm who I look like and they still don't know who I am.  Finally the gay guy shouts "Hes a lady!"  No one else caught on and I had to spell it out xD  Then one of the girls in the group says we should do ladies night at a local bar together some time.

That night made me feel so good xD
