Out of college my first job was as an assistant production director for a three radio station group. A classic rock station, a influential rock station, and a, for lack of a better term, women's station. The women's station ran a syndicated show in the evenings that the program director absolutely hated, but they were locked into a contract. What he would do is record the previous nights show and then have me edit out the types of things that he didn't like and then piece it back together for the next nights airing. Turns out that this is illegal, but I did not get in trouble for it. Anyway, it took about two hours to edit a show together and it was mind numbingly boring, both the show and the editing process so I kind of zoned out while I did it. One day I was working and a voice form behind me say "hey buddy, how's it going". Because I did not want to do this editing I was grumpy so I just waived my hand in the air and grumbled something without turning around. Not to be deterred another voice says "hey there, what ya doin'." Frustrated that someone is interrupting my crappy task, I wave my hand and say "I'm good" again, not turning around. Finally, the first guy says "no really, how are you doing". Well, they do not seem to want to go away and insist that I talk to them. With angry face on I turn around and making sure that whoever it is will know that I am annoyed at the interruption. Understand that not many famous people ever wandered the halls of the women's station, at least none that I really knew of. So, I turn around and standing right behind me was Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Needless, to say I apologized profusely for being so rude. I told them what I was doing and they completely understood my attitude because they though it was a crap job to be doing as well. Apparently I was the only person in all three stations that was not busy for them to talk to while they waited to do their interview on the rock station. We hung out for about ten minutes just talking about whatever. A pair of really nice guys.
