So I'm in the process of scheduling an orchiectomy next week with Dr Cardenas office in Guadalajara and they told me Dr. Alejandro Sepulveda would be able to perform the surgery if I come next week or first week of October. Couldn't really find any info on google.
I think I will go through with it though.

Never heard of him...nothing on any national sites

Youre not going to Mexico to get an orchi by an uncredited doctor to save a few  bucks or because you want to rush things r u?

If so, you may end up in a world of regret

A few people on here have recommended Dr Cardenas because they had him. I don't know why his office replied to me that another doctor will be performing the surgery. Especially one that has no info online.

I only bring this up because in your prior posts you seem to be in a hurry. Did you discuss this with your therapist?

Also, because someone told you about a doctor in Mexico doesn't mean he's good.

For the travel costs to get to mexico you will be spending the same if you were doing it here under a reputable doctor.

But to be honest, i would NEVER go to a surgeon if there isnt any credentialed info on them. Talk to your therapist about this

....do you even have a therapist

What I meant was I will still go through with it if dr Cardenas does it not the other one. There were two people here who had their orchie done by him...and yes I do consider that a better reference than doing it with a random doctor just because he's in the U.S.

I don't have a therapist the only way I would pay for one is if I knew they could give me a letter for surgery during the first session. Seems like a lot of work and I can't find motivation for it since I don't think a therapist is needed. Informed consent and a consultation with a surgeon is enough.
And the fact the U.S. requires a therapist letter makes me wonder about the healthcare which WE think is better than in other places. Also I work in a sterilization department and the people who sterilize instruments for surgery are people who finished a 3 month course and I don't think that's a good thing. The fact my co workers might one day clean and sterilize the instruments that will be used on me during surgery scares me after seeing the way they work.

Yeah, youll never find a therapist who will give you any papers for surgery on the first visit...they wouldnt be a therapist if they did that..they would be a disservice to you.

Even if 10 people here would recommend a doctor i stll would not accept them unless i see their credentials and medical rating.

You mentioned you don't go to a dr in Boston becuase you dont know them. Well call them and get to kno them...plus they are credited and backed by malpractice insurance.

I still think youre going to Mexico because youre too impatient to do this right. Sorry to sound offensive but a surgery like this you should have someone to talk to. Ive been on way too many transgender suicide calls that felt deep regret by rushing an irreversible surgery. The surgery in itself is not unhealthy..its how people rush it like getting in line for a new Iphone

No need to apologize you're only trying to be helpful. I am impatient and I tried to have it here already. I called a therapist and she recommended someone with more experience to me. So I called her and she never called me back. It's really annoying since I know this is what I want. I might have to see a therapist though if this Mexico thing doesn't work out.

Hi dj
please reconsider your rush to fix your body this is really something that takes time.  First there are alot of counselors that are available not just in your area but also ones that will do theraphy over skype and the phone, you can also check with your local gay and lesbian community center they can be excellant resources.  You really need to do this with a strong support system in place as you ride the emotional roller coaster of hrt.  Please listen to what Annah said as it is hard enough with a support team forget about doing it yourself.
You expressed frustration with the health care providers listen I am in the bible belt of america and I live amongst the biggest homophobes ever and I have had to educate the doctors and counselors that I have but at least I am making it easier for the next guy or girl to come along.
Please just think about it.

also, another thing to note:

One of the reasons why you need a letter for an orchi is because of the doctors' ethic system here and the fact that many people are sue happy.

A doctor will not remove testicles just because someone says so. It goes against the Doctors' creed of healing people. In a situation where a person walks into a hospital and say "I want my testicles removed" no doctor will be happy to oblige to your request. That would be like someone walking into a hospital and saying "I want you to remove my foot."

It requires documentation from a certified specialist to show the doctor that it is beneficial to have the testicles removed or the foot removed. For example, if the person has diabetes and their care provider writes the referral letter that the patient must have their foot removed this is an example of the situation being beneficial. Same goes for having your testicles removed. These referrals are written to prove there is a benefit to the surgery and it covers the doctor performing the surgery.

You mention the US has some pretty bad healthcare practices. I agree. However, this is one of those practices that I disagree 100% with you on.

My mother is a doctor and she pays out 250,000 a year. Yes, that's right. A quarter of a million dollars of her paycheck a year to cover her malpractice insurance. In 1984, when she started, she paid out 8,000. She's never lost a settlement....the 250,000 are normal for cardiologists with a clean record. Gynecologist/Obs pays out 750,000 a year. That's how many people and scum lawyers there are in this country who will sue for anything.

So when that doctor gets a letter she or he knows her arse is covered....for the most part. You can't come back and freak out stating this doctor cut your testicles off and now you can never have children again...because you gave him the letter from your therapist stating you know the consequences of your actions.

The Mexican doctors could care less about lawsuits. You can't sue them if you wanted too. I've seen some pretty craptacular work by Doctors who service transgender people because the transgender person was too impatient to take their time and do it right.

It's the second biggest reason why I get suicide calls. The first is being their families has disowned them. The second being, they rushed into their transition and now they are full of regret. And you are exhibiting every single carbon copy excuses those trans had before who now calls me freaking out. They too said they thought they were ready, the didn't need "the system", they knew what they wanted and they knew the consequences....now they wish to God they were more sensible.

Yes, Dr. Alejandro Sepulveda performed my orchiectomy. The operation went smoothly and I am pleased with the results. I highly recommend him.
