so I have been trying to get on hormones since i turned 18 and i found an endocrynologist(sp?) who i can go to only problem is i can't pay for it right now nor can i pay for the highly expensive surgery.....neither i nor my 2 roommates make enough and with one of them needing some care cuz of a car wreck that we were in the 21st of august and i can't have a job right now nor can look for one until they are better...so my first question is

1. my roommate told me theres organizations that will pay for the hormones and surgery for those who can't afford them, can someone refer me to any that they may know?

2. I also heard that the minimum requirement as far as hormones go for SRS is to be on them for atleast a year, is this true???

For low income persons there's medicaid although that only pays for hormone and mental health. Majority of surgeons go by the SOC which states a year in gender identity role/hormones.
