Many ladies that work in cosmetics are fine working with anyone. At least in my experience. I went to a spa type place that does makeup too and the ladies there are great. They make me want to be there all the time.

Just remember the world will not open up and swallow you whole. The sun will still rise in the morning and set in the evening.

Good luck!

I once bought a dress, women's footsie pajamas, high-heeled shoes, and female underwear all in the same purchase, presenting as a guy. As long as they're making commission, the salespeople couldn't care less. They won't say anything or judge, no matter how much they want to, thanks to 7 little words. "I want to talk to the manager."

I just walk in and if I need help I just tell the ladies that I am trans and am new at this. No one has ever given me a sideways look or anything. So far, the women have instantly opened up to me and treated me like any other woman. Even if I am presenting male. Honesty really works well for me.

Of course the employees of Sally's don't care if you are a guy shopping there.  There are many guys shop there, because they are in the trade.

I love Ulta. I shop there enough that most of the ladies know me by name.

I got two makeup consultations at Bare Escentuals.  Both times the clerks were super cool to me.  I had a blast!

Hopefully to good stories will help give you courage OP!

I went to Sallys as a guy and asked for a wig stand. The girl said "Wig stands are expensive, if it's a short  style you can use a Styrofoam head, they're only a couple bucks." Super friendly and made me feel completely at ease shopping for things I "shouldn't" be shopping for. Just walk in and tell them what you want and enjoy the service. Hugs, Devlyn

Half of the sales people in my local Sephora are guys. Never had any issue personally before I presented as female. You just do it.

I went to a popular corporate chain store here. I said the make-up was for my "sister" and by the end of the whole process, the make-up assistant let on that she knew it wasn't for any sister, but, she was VERY supportive and kind. I wish more people in the world were like her! Ehh, you just go in and look for what you need, then buy it.
