That financial stuff about SRS bothers me as well... I came to conclusion that I cannot earn so much money. But it's not only about the money. I am also scared to death by pain and agony caused by the surgery.

So I made a simple plan - I will stay how I am (I pass as a female etc) without SRS. If I got tired of it all, I will end my life.

Start trying what exactly?

Everyone has a right to determine when it's enough. Who are others to judge me if I got tired of this life? So far, so good - at least I'm healthy - but let's face it: SRS is unreachable to me, and this "so far, so good" state cannot last forever. I'm very far from being happy, but I really don't want to die or harm anyone in the process. I thought many times to grab some explosives and blow everything up, but that's not fair. Nobody should pay for my misery. I don't know, everything is so damned complicated and I'm completely lost & alone...

I am sure you can save the money up if you put your mind to it Niji. Feeling frustrated is only a temporary emotion anyways. No need to kill yourself over a bad day. Good days come too.

Our lives only just started, my idea is why give it up.  I know its hard, perhaps insensitive for me to say but we need to learn to love ourselves otherwise SRS won't fix anything.  It will only be another plastic surgury, a cover up, makeup to hide our imperfections.

If you made it this far, youve worked hard.

I know I wish their was an easier way but thats the B**ch that is reality for you unfortunetly. Just keep saving up is my thought process. I'll get their eventually.
Be yourself regardless of what other may think of you. Tis your life not theirs. :)

I'm actually under Kaiser Permante's Plan. I believe they don't cover anything surgery related to SRS. Only like hormones and therapy, Which is okay, I mean it's better than nothing.

My wife just had some minor cosmetic surgery and Kaiser covered part of it.  You should call member services and discuss your insurance plan.  Are you seeing a Kaiser Gender Therapist?  If you are maybe the therapist can do a referal to a surgeon.  You'd have to go to an outside surgeon because I doubt Kaiser has SRS surgeons anywhere on staff.

Oh really? Well right now I'm only seeing my endo and that's about it.. If I may, what kind of cosmetic surgery?  As in FFS? Or breast augmentation?
I always assumed that since they didn't cover SRS they wouldn't help me with anything along the lines of cosmetic surgery as I believe they consider SRS just that. My endo has not brought any options of such to my attention hahaha

I would love if they could cover breasts or some FFS, I mean hormones just isn't enough sometimes.. BLEH

My wife has an inherited skin condition and she has special laser work done every 7 to 10 years.  It's cosmetic, and she has to be refered by her general practitioner each time, plus she pays a good part of the cost.

I'm not going to guarantee that Kaiser can help with SRS, but it has to do with a special medical condition, and when if comes to something like this you should check everything.  (I'm sure they don't cover anything for elective FFS or breasts.)  The best thing to do is call telephone advice and ask for the Member Services telephone number so you can talk to them about your coverage.  Anyway, anything to do with transgender medicine seems to need a Gender Therapist to send a recommendation, so see if you can get to a gender therapist in the Psychiatry department.  It was a bit intimidating for me to walk into the reception area the first time, but then I kind of figure "who cares".  And it's all confidential anyway.

If you're in Northern California and have trouble finding phone numbers for a therapist in LGBT care message me and I'll see what I can come up with.  I just went through all the trouble getting to a therapist, and I don't want others to unnecessarily have the same problems.
