notwithstanding the fact that satan is a demon and the other two are fallen angels, there is general agreement that the three are one and the same, yet belial is the father of lucifer.  [yes, i know belial was created after lucifer, just suspend disbelief for a while].  so we have a father and a son, is satan the unholy ghost?

"Is"?

I think that the devil was created by man to show the dichotomy between good and evil. The devil is also a great tool to threaten people, make them feel guilty, and coerce them to fall into line.... for if they don't they shall spend eternity with him. The very thought of this kind of control is evil in my own mind.

Meh, in my opinion this is based off of too many assumptions.

But ok, lets suspend disbelieve and ahem, other stuff.

Regardless of names and lineages, why would there not be a evil counterpart to the holy trinity?  Hrm, well, it does not feel like that; Part of that trinity is everywhere; How do you get a counterpart to everywhere? Nowhere I guess but that is kind of silly in this context. Um, poo. Even abstractly I can't seem to put my paw on it. I think the 'trinity' is missing one; *shrug*

Amusing thought anyway.

Still, irregardless, what would be the inverse/opposite of the 'holy trinity' be? From what I understand 'holy' is basically 'life', so I suppose 'Unholy' would be death? *shrug* Mayhaps it should be phrased creation and destruction then. Hrm, I guess that could work; I don't think it matches the 'facts' but *shrug*, tis kind of hard to tell from this angle :P

Anyway, as I said, amusing thoughts.

Why don't you ask them?  >:D  Just kidding!   ;D  But, no, I don't think so, Katia.  IMO and I might be wrong, Satan is the fallen Lucifer.  Lucifer (meaning "the bringer of light", the most prominent archangel in heaven who turned bad, very bad...) which is one of the many names for the Adversary; IOW, many names for only one entity; whereas the meaning of Trinity is God of Himself, as one God that exists in three people, all of whom are equal in power, wisdom, glory, etc, etc, etc.

The unholy trinity equals to hate, fear and the spirit of apathy. ;)

And then there's "me, myself, and I."

To me, self-centeredness is as evil as anything imagined because someone who's self-absorbed can't see what's going on around them... very interesting thread!

I could come up with lots of names of who the nan of satan is or his sister but like in mythology, I imagine there have to be different tales and names for satan too. ???
