I found this very cute and a little bit sad. I didn't interpret it this way when I saw it on TV, but when I shared it with a friend he suggested that wanting to be a princess may have been a stand in for a transgender identity. I'll let you watch it without further comment.

Maybe not transgender specifically, but queer definitely. I identified with the character. I'm a little disappointed that he was only able to be himself in an asylum, as someone commented on over at Youtube. I think it might have been better, and more touching if they ended with him leaping from the cliff.

I found the jumping off the cliff and asylum bit to be somewhat disturbing and think it would have been better to jump right to telling Cookie that they could be a Princess in their own right if they so desired
