So when I crossdress I always seem to totally forget to use the mens bathroom. I get yelled at a lot, but part of me is terrified to be found out ((even though I have never been in the past)), so using the mens bathroom is hard for me still. Been using family bathrooms a lot. I totally wish they had trans bathrooms or something, it would make me feel much better :/

Should I continue to use the mens or womans bathroom I guess is what Im asking? and I feel I know the answer, but how do I gain more confidence before an actual top surgery or HRT?

I'd say use the one that most closely matches your outer appearance, taking into account what laws you may be breaking.  In many places now laws are in place that protect such actions, and those places also tend to be the most blase about it because they are used to it.

Piss in the corner, preferably on someone.

that, and ask around.  There are places like SF and Berkeley that have written specific ordinances to cover this.  In other places it most likely is not exactly and specifically forbidden it could easily result in changes of disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and bunch of crap like that.

Lol, I have the same problem. Since I cross dress as a male (due to successfully being mistaken as one) I thought it would be awkward going into a female restroom so I just went into the guys. If your at some random place where no one knows you, go for it. It's unlikely for someone to question or start a conversation with a stranger they met at the restroom. Take precaution that you don't see anyone you recognize like a classmate or anyone you know and don't act suspicious/nervous. Waltz right in there and slip into a stall.

If they yell at you when you use the ladies' room, doesn't that suggest you're passing as a guy? Sounds like you would do just fine using the gents'.

Local laws change a lot.

In Australia if you present as female use the female toilet, If male use the male toilet. If you are in Drag use the toilet of your sex. Confusing, yep.

But most large entertainment places in Australia also have M/F toilets or F/M, which means Unisex. They were supposed to help out in the female rush for the loo in theatres etc. But they have also become synonymous with if you need a loo use it.

I think, and this is without personal experience, you are more likely to get reported to security for loitering in the toilet rather than for using one of the 'wrong sex'.

I also read that some places in the USA seem to have more problems than needed with people who need to use a toilet.

I use to do lots of bush camping in Aus and we basically had the boys bush and the girls bush. If it was organised someone would dig a hole and place a deck chair without seating in the girls area.

Somehow the need to empty bladder, bowels or anything else never caused any great excitement.

To be honest I still do not know why it does, unless you have a baby and have to check its motions, something I leave to its parents.

Since I am not full time, I got a letter from my therapist saying I need to use the women's restroom while presenting female.

Also, most guys won't care if a "woman" uses the men's room. If they perceive you as a female, they will probably just smile.

I use the men's all the time with no problems.  When with a group where someone  know my history I use the unisex restroom or none at all.  I mostly use the men's where there is little chance of someone I know seeing me.  I have never had a problem using the men's, guys say very little, only there to do their business and move on.  If you pass as a guy use the men's.

Where I live now the law states one must use the restroom of your actual gender. It's alright with me. So I stand to pee in the stall wearing heels and lift my skirt. It's quite a surprise to others when I exit the stall. Oh well... They'll get over it. I did.
