There were a couple of threads about how to react to Anne Coulter's tweet about 'disown your gay kid' day suggestion.  That she does such things only when she has a new book to sell has become pro-forma.  And keeping it up she referred to the President of the United States the other night as "retarded".  Here is how one member of that community responded to her.  It's moving, hell, it's awesome.

I thought first of asking whether you meant to describe the President as someone who was bullied as a child by people like you, but rose above it to find a way to succeed in life as many of my fellow Special Olympians have.

Then I wondered if you meant to describe him as someone who has to struggle to be thoughtful about everything he says, as everyone else races from one snarkey sound bite to the next.

Finally, I wondered if you meant to degrade him as someone who is likely to receive bad health care, live in low grade housing with very little income and still manages to see life as a wonderful gift.

I send Special Olympics a small donation in his name.

But I think that's how it's done.  Head on, straight ahead and don't pull the punches.

Thank you for posting this.

It has been my experience that "professional haters" come in all races, colors , creeds, orientations, sizes, nationalities, political persuasions, and gender expressions.

I often wonder why we all can't "just get along"?

To correct your post, Ms. Coulter did not use "gay" in her tweet.

Just when it seems that Ann has run out of ways to make herself look foolish, she pulls another trick from her bag. She is one sad, sad woman that is for sure.

That was a great letter. Than man wrote it in such an amazing way. He did not stoop to her level and hurl insults. Thank you for posting that.

It was a direct response to National Coming Out Day.  It was more than obvious what she meant. (And what she really meant was "hey, people who enjoy this kind of hate should go buy my new book because if they don't I might have to get a real job and with my history and personality those job interviews are not going to be easy.")

I'll reiterate my contention that punishing your kid because of gender nonconformity should be a CRIME like every other type of child abuse.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Move to England. Trans-hate is a crime here.

Except that in the latest case that has received so much attention in here that would not be covered as the person in question is not a child, but a legal adult.

It will be interesting to see if Ms. Coulter addresses this open letter or not. I checked her web site, which seems to have rather recent (within the last few hours) tweets listed there, but no mention of this at all.

If her previous reactions to such criticism are any method of forecasting, I'm not expecting her to apologize.

Well she did, she offered to give him some hot Coulter love and have mad sex with him.  At least that what I hope she meant when she said "Screw them."

I never expected her to actually apologize. I think she might be a bit of a sociopath.

Oh it's probably worse than that, she does it to sell books.  That way she can afford a lifestyle that doesn't match what she preaches.

Coulter likes to stir the pot. She's entitled to her thoughts. I wouldn't waste my time responding to her.

On behalf of the other 6.7 billion who live outside the United States, "Ann who?"
That is how important she is in the scheme of things.

I think the point here is that they are not even her thoughts, just thoughts that sell well.

Here is how Ann Coulter was treated in the uk
