I had a DI mastectomy with nipple grafts a little over 5 weeks ago with Dr. Burin in Thailand. Now that the swelling and bruising are gone, I'm really unhappy with the amount of breast tissue that was left behind.

Dr. Burin is willing to do a revision in early November before I leave Thailand. He has suggested doing the revision under local anesthesia. I haven't found much to read online, but I did find some information on Dr. Brownstein that has made me hesitate. I'd love to hear from guys who had any revision work done.

1) How long after your first surgery were you told to wait?
2) Did you do the revision under local or general
3) What was the recovery like for the revision compared to the initial surgery?

For the reason for one year I'm pretty sure it's for you body to heal.

Das, I didn't have a revision, but did ask about it just in case.

The reasons for waiting were to completely heal and allow time for everything to settle into place. In my case, it did take almost a year for complete healing. Note that I had keyhole, not DI.

I've scheduled a consult with a different surgeon, so I can get a second opinion on a revision so soon after surgery. The main rush is that if I don't have the revision in November it will cost more. If I do it in November I don't have to pay surgeon fees or travel costs. But I think it is better to wait and pay more for a good result.

My surgeon offered me a scar revision surgery, to be done at least one year after the original operation. In this case, there's a one-year waiting period because that's how long it takes for the scars to get about as healed as they'll ever be. In my opinion, 8-10 weeks seems a little early to be thinking of revision.
