'What Would You Do?' Features Young Boy Who Wants To Be Princess For Halloween


What would you do if your 7-year-old son wanted to be a princess for Halloween?

That was the premise of the latest installment of ABC's "What Would You Do?" which featured a young boy who tossed aside Hulk and Spiderman costumes in favor of Belle from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."

The reactions from fellow customers as they observe the debate between Mom and son are, at times, hilarious and certainly telling -- and get even more intense when a nine-year-old girl appears, determined to wear a boy's costume.

I would make sure he got the best princess costume I could afford. I want my son to be happy, and do not care how he chooses to express himself as long as he is not being mean to someone.

I'd remember it's a kids holiday in which playing dress up is a major part.  If dressing like the devil doesn't' condemn your soul to hell for all eternity, then I'm sure that dressing as a prince or a princess won't make them royalty either.  Nor would it change their gender.  Adults should stay out of kids activities unless they can emulate the right kind of thinking that's required.

   My mom did put me in a dress for Halloween once around 1963.  My aunt and uncle crossdressed for a Halloween party back then and was the smash of the party, the others thought they were another couple!  That's why I put up this thread.  It was not unusal to find boys in dresses on Halloween back then.  It is a lot harder in this PC world now or should I say 'Gender Correct'.

Well, kids are cruel, and the boy would probably be teased, so I probably wouldn't let my son do it because I know how bad it was to be the victim of the school, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

My Mum let me play with what ever I wanted, and bought me My little Ponies and Jem dolls, and I turned out fine..... 

I need to watch that in a bit, but to answer the question myself:

At 7 years old, I'd suggest something else. He was already the oddball in his class, and sensitive to people laughing and whatnot, so I know it wouldn't have had a happy ending.

After 11.. Go for it. Actually, he did dress up like a princess for x-mas eve one year.. just to get a reaction outta his granny. Her reaction? "Oh my God look at him! So cute!" *grabs camera*

I would make sure he was the cutest princess ever.  And I would not allow any narrow mind adult tell him otherwise.
