Hyvää päivää Amanda.  My parents were 1st generation American Finns, and they always spoke Finnish when they got mad at us so we couldn't understand them.  But all of us kids knew enough to know what was happening.  Now I'm down to understanding and using only a few words.

You look fine in your blog, and you'll do well.  Just let the Gender Therapist know your concern.  Maybe try to get an Antiandrogen before full HRT also.

A link from a post on this very site:

"Unsurprisingly, nothing even remotely like an in-depth study of the subject has been done. Any correlation between age and hormonal efficacy is speculative at absolute best."

At age 64 5/6ths I have no complaints about what HRT has done to me, but it is NOT the reason I look and act acceptable as a female.  I smile, I take care of my self with a neat and age appropriate wardrobe and makeup.  If I do get into a situation where I have a discussion of being trans with a hostile person, I keep my cool and a civil tongue in my head and act as a lady.

I started my HRT at age 61 and my avatar is from that time period.  As is the common theme here, its not the age, its if you act as maturely as your age will allow and with a smile. HRT helps but is not a big factor in my life.

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

Hi Vicky:
I was always worried that I was too old, then started HRT a week after my 61st  birthday.  Now at 3 1/2 months.  Just because the psychological effects are incredibly positive I wonder why I let things get in my way and waited so long.   I won't post a photo of myself for a while yet because I'm looking so bad, but there will be a day pretty soon when I can.  I bought some very nice but simple tops and a light sweater recently.  Still looking for a nice ankle length skirt.  They'll be waiting to be worn sometime this spring when the weight is off.

As has already been stated in this thread, there are people who are well over double your age and are passable for women their age. So, 24 is certainly not too late, thats the age I am now and will be transitioning.

Not to repeat what has already been said, but I have seen people our age pass without any HRT or FFS, by simply the right attitude, style, makeup and clothing.

So throw HRT and FFS (which the majority do not need) in and your chances of passing at 24 are astonishingly high.

According to the genderclinic I visit the effects of hrt decrease rapidly between 18 and 30 years and from that age onwards steadily decline. This is however an educated guess without hard statistical data.

Exactly. There has never been a study done and this kinda info just stresses people out and makes them rush into this, panic and "OMG not one more month of no HRT, I'll never pass!!"

I started shortly before my 24'th birthday, and after five months went full time, i am now kicked out of bars for "using a fake ID." (still waiting for my name change to finish going through before i go in for my new one.). So yeah, i would say you will be FINE. Just my two cents though.
