As soon as my therapist finishes my letter! My parents have both consented and I couldn't be happier. I'm trying to type something of substance, but that's difficult when all you want to do is put smiley faces :D :D :D

I'm actually really surprised my parents were both okay with it, considering every time I've talked to my mom about it she's cried and left the room, but both her and my dad said that they don't really understand it, but they trust my judgement (My therapist might have something to do with that too) and they won't keep me from doing whatever I need to be happy! I don't have another appointment until November, so hopefully the letter will be done by then!

I need to have something to actually provoke a reply from someone, so I'll ask what's been burning my brain for a while now; How long does it normally take to write an HRT letter?

Congrats Olive  :)  How long it takes for the letter to get typed depends on your therapist, are they going to mail it to you?

I don't really know. The last he told me almost a month ago was that he was compiling his notes so he could start writing it... I don't have another appointment until December, so I'm assuming he'll just hand it to me then.

Well congrats!!

I told my therapist I wanted to be on HRT asap during every session so once she said ok, it was a week later.

I'd already made an appt with my Endo, so it was just a couple days later that I was "under the influence"...LOL

If you think you're smiling now, just wait till you start taking them! :-)
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

He knows that I want to start ASAP. Every single session, whenever I could interject it to a relevant  conversation, you'd better believe I did! I'm honestly thinking about calling his office and asking when he would be finishing it...

It took me almost 2 months between getting my therapist's OK and getting the letter.  She was ill during that period, which contributed to the delay.  I actually started HRT on a verbal from my therapist to my physician and followed up with the letter a few weeks later.

Keep in mind that your doctor may want bloodwork results back before starting you.  Also, physicians vary, but its common to start on anti-androgens alone and/or on low dosages.

Congrats, Olive.

It really depends on your location and your therapist.
If a therapist is really thorough it may take as long as a year (!)
in my country. The upside is that we have a very socialistic health-care
system and transsexualism is covered by it! Thus it doesn't cost all that much,
for instance: SRS costs 4k euros out of which 60% to 70% is paid back by
health insurance.
