How much attention to people pay to others legs?  I'm not out at college, and we've got to do something that involves swimming/climbing rigging/liferafts in a survival tank (basically a dark swimming pool with force 10 waves and wind), and it could take place this Thursday.  It's not compulsory but it'll look good on my CV, especially if I get into off-shore work which I'd like to do.

I've not shaved my legs for about a year and they've got a decent amount of dark hair on.  Not cis-male amounts, but more than some pre-T guys that I've seen.  How likely is it that someone's going to notice, because I really don't want to shave it, and I'm not sure if the razor will cope with it, but I was teased a lot as a kid about having body hair, and I don't really want to have that happen again.

And binders, do they like water?  I'm guessing that it's got to legally have some chlorine or other treatment agent in it, but as I've never been allowed far enough into the building to even see it before I really don't know.  How hard is it to swim in binders as well, it's going to be fairly strenuous I think from the sounds of it.  The binder isn't a necessity because I'm not out, but I don't have anything else to wear on my top half (a T-shirt obviously, but I wouldn't want it riding up too far...) and wet clothes + chest = NO.

Any input?

I wouldn't worry about your legs, I don't think much people will notice. As long as you're not wearing a bikini... I've been swimming in trunks or shorts with unshaved legs and haven't received any strange looks.

Also, I spend a lot of time in a very cosmopolitian city, and I often see tons of French girls walking around in short skirts or shorts without legs shaved. So, I think if people are used to seeing unshaved legs, it won't phase anyone at all. And, if you're swimming, people who normally wear glasses probably won't even be able to see your leg hair.

As for the top, I know some FTMs get a full body swimming suit, or a version of it that goes to your shin. I am forgetting what they're called, but I think they're worn a lot by surfers. I've seen some of them in stores for decent prices.

I don't think people are used to seeing unshaven legs around here, and they're not exactly the maturest of people...  I don't think anyone wears glasses either, so they might notice.  I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and shave if I don't want to be constantly paranoid.

I'm definitely not wearing a bikini, brought some very cheap trunks today.  Should probably have mentioned that I've got an underworks binder.

my underworks always stood up very well to swimming. slightly impaired breathing, but not too bad. just make sure to have a dry one to change into, because a wet binder will soak clothes for hours
