OK - Looking for advice form the more experienced.  I have finally left my long term Dr.'s practice (bit of a prig and very limited choices in our network)  Any have advice on how to select a new Primary Care Physician that is trans friendly?  How do you approach, and then broach, the subject.  Also, as an mtf I don't feel comfortable with with a man, would prefer someone more like me...  How do you find someone and then "consult" for a good fit?  Sorry if this sounds silly, I just don't know where to start. - Holly

I was fortunate that my doctor was trans friendly .... but my son just recently found a new doctor ... he called the office and talk with the receptionist and asked if they had any transpatients and if they were okay with trans patients.  He felt the receptions was a good clue b/c if they were rude and uncomfortable then he didn't want to go there.  Ask your friends --- ask around.

Thanks Robert!  Appreciate the kind words.  You're lucky not to have to find someone new.  I thought about just making calls and doing the phone interview thing, but I still get nervous and anxious.  My Therapist gave me the same advice; I thought maybe I could find an easier way.  - Holly

Hi Holly. Not sure really where in the world you live. It sounds like you're using US terminology. Can you confirm? I'm sure many will have different suggestions, depending upon the local arrangements.

Here in the UK, for example, we have a rather complicated bureaucracy called the NHS. It can deliver most things, if you know how to deal with it. But is incredibly frustrating if you don't.

Looking forward to your responses. If you are in the US I'm sure giving your state won't upset anyone.
