This maybe a stupid question but I'm gonna ask it anyways... I'm thinking about stopping finastride just for a little bit so I can grow back the little bit of facial hair I had going on.  By stopping finastride, I'm assuming this will effect my T levels and how the andro gel is working for me, right? I'm thinking if I stop  finastride maybe the andro gel will work for me... ? Maybe the finastride is interfering and my progress...? I mean, it did stop my facial hair growth and body hair growth. I just want my facial hair to grow back again and eventually even out. It's still not filling out on one side and that's frustrating that's why I shaved, it just started to look bad. I regret shaving it now.

I was considering going on Propecia myself but read somethings I didn't like. For one, it's a life long medication. At anytime you stop all of the hair you have retained on your head and any regrowth will eventually fall out. I know that for a fact.

The other things I have heard is DHT blockers can effect testosterone effectiveness even down to the growth of the "little man". That is what I've heard and doesn't sound too desirable for me.

I've freaked out in the past about the prospect of losing my hair (it is already in a male pattern at the temples) but baldness is a roll of the dice and honestly a part of manhood. I've come to the conclusion that we can't have it all no matter how hard we try.

My advice? What would make you happier? Passing sooner...even if it means losing your hair OR retaining your hair and dealing with the other consequences (whatever they may be medical or physical) of making yourself stay on a medication (for the rest of your life) purely for vanity reasons?

I myself am going to start bodybuilding in the Spring after I heal from surgery and while I don't want to lose my hair..if I do then I do. Buff guys look hot bald and that is also a good reason to extend my cap collection, lol.

If the hair you regrew falls out after you stop taking it, won't it regrow again when you take finastride again?

I don't want downstairs growth so I don't care about that.

I'd rather wait longer to pass than to loose my hair. I guess I just have to cut my hair (which I hate doing) to pass better. If I can grow some decent facial hair while off finastride for a little bit I will keep my hair long.

In a short answer, no. It is designed to make you keep what you have not really to regrow (that is just a plus side some people see). If it could make bald men have a gorgeous head of hair then there would be a cure for baldness and no reason for hair transplants some men receive.

When I stopped finasteride, I saw a lot of little changes in just a few months. That's why I've stopped indefinitely for now. Can't wait to see my beard and body hair by next summer...I hope to be a lot furrier.

I have read if you stay on it for long enough, you are indeed more likely to regrow hair than not. But it can take a couple of years to really see results. YMMV.

One reason I finally felt comfortable stopping F is that (the last time I read up on the subject, anyway) its efficacy in preventing hair loss at the temples hasn't really been confirmed; indeed, I was losing quite a bit of hair even on the meds and didn't see all that much difference when I took a break from it. Of course, it can take longer than a few months to see the full effects of stopping.
