Ok, to clarify, I could not have kids. I like babies and I would be able to stand kids who are 16+, when they would actually develop some adult-level thinking; however, I could not tolerate anything in between.

As for the issue at hand, despite my adamant distaste of the idea of having kids, ever since I came to terms with my gender identity, I have had a very strong urge to be a mom. I actually take care of my guy friends when they're sick because it's the closest thing I have (besides babysitting) to taking care of a baby (seriously, it's like men purposely act like babies when they're sick  ).

For the MTFs out there, have you ever had this issue, this craving to be a mother?

Yes, I do crave the opportunity to be a mother, and a biological mother at that. I take some comfort in the fact that I've been able to be a parent, and maybe was a mother of sorts.

I would love to experience pregnancy over and over and be a surrogate.  Hugs Shannon

Definitely. There's a vast swath of the female experience I will miss out on. I'm very glad I've been given the opportunity to be a parent, but I'll never experience having my body be vessel for my baby to live in.

I console myself with the notion that there are a lot of natal females who will miss out on this experience either because of their preferences or physical limitations, so I'm not alone.

While at one time I would have loved to be pregnant, I can get my baby fix by going to Seattle, I have grand babies up there.  Or I could go to Michigan, where my first grand son, my grand daughter-in-law and my first great grand son live.

I'm a little different that most. I have 4 children and many of them have issues because of  their real mom.My Ex passed away in january.
I will NEVER want another child I'm just too burnt out as a parent. It doesnt make the parental habits any less pronounced though. I get to be Mom without the childbirth.

Having been with my wife through her pregnancies it seems to be a very overrated experience to me. She carried well, but it was uncomfortable, involved lots of poking and prodding from many medical people and left her body in worse condition than when she started (weak bladder, plenty of stretch marks, increased boob size and weight, desensitized nipples from feeding, etc, etc).

In short I am happy to skip it.

Not until recently. Feeling it quite strongly at the moment, but I'm content to be doing a lot of mothering/big-sistering to young trans folk at the moment instead (something that just seems to have happened spontaneously over the last couple of months). Given the right combination of people involved, I'd be very happy to be a foster-mum at some point.

When I was a child I wanted a doll so much. Eventually, my parents bought me an Action Man, a sort of boy's doll which was suppose to be a soldier. But it wasn't really what I wanted. It wasn't a baby.

Now, I try to fill my life with nieces and a nephew, but they have their own lives.

Once I was grown I realised that, however much I wanted that, I wanted so many things. But just as someone born unable to walk or someone born unable to see, or hear, I was born unable to express who I am, to have babies and I will try to do what they have to do, to make the best of the life I have, develop my character and seek to contribute to the community.

Well, my sister wants to have 4 kids, so I guess I'll have some babies in my life.

Well, I didn't necessarily ask about pregnancy, just motherhood. However, everyone knows that pregnancy sucks. 
What's strange is that I would still like to experience it.

Babies are the Best!

It's like they change your brain structure and make you happy all the time, and then you're exhausted and pass days on end without sleep. And when they're sick you get to sleep even less, and life becomes one awesome trip and I swear to God you hallucinate and remember their faces everywhere and hear their noises when you're eating lunch.

It's like drugs or sex, except it's better, and way more expensive.

I think you just argued for and against babies at the same time. 

I have enough children so I have no interest in having more even if it meant I could be pregnant and a biological mom.  I'm a trans woman dad and enjoy it for what it is.

  I never had children.  I didn't dream of giving birth, but to nurse my children.  That wouldn't happen in 1977, but now some cis males are doing it along with their wives!  I'm jealous!
