Back where I was born, and where I have to go this weekend, there is an excellent chocolate shop.  Do I have a bad idea in my head/heart (can't tell where this idea is coming from) for thinking I should get my therapist one of their delectable treats?  She's helped me so much this past year, and while I know I pay her, darn it I still wanna do something nice.  Next to my SO she's the only person I feel motivated to get a gift for!

I'm just worried about the whole appropriateness angle, doctor patient and all.

If it feels right, do it! If it feels wrong, ship them anonymously! She'll still get them. If it feels really, really wrong, you can ship them to me. Chocolate is always appropriate. Hugs, Devlyn

The first thing I thought of was..."Ask first?"

As long as you don't have any reason to bribe your therapist, I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

Generally, if the gift is of low monetary value, then it is acceptable.

I'd ask but I don't want to spoil the suprise.  :)

Thanks, I thought I might be being paranoid but I wanted to err on the side of caution.

With your intentions, and the general cost of this type of gift I don't think she will have a problem with it. If she does, she will tell you. I go to a trans support group ran by a therapist. Some of the other ladies bring her little gifts like that every month. Even though it is a government run hospital which strictly prohibits gifts, she is still allowed to accept them.

I give small candy gifts (a friend makes really good home made peanut brittle) to all my doctors/dentists and other service related people each Christmas. Just don't get something over the $5-10 range and she will be happy. More than that might seem weird.

I agree, keep it inexpensive.  These things are like $1.75.  They're the melt away bars that like EVERY school fundraiser back there uses.  But oh so good!
