THIS is the world's first transsexual - revealed in rare newsreel footage that was filmed nearly 60 years ago.

Christine Jorgensen, a former GI in the US Army called George, underwent gender reassignment in Denmark in 1953 and was the first person to go public after the surgery.

She is seen here at the age of 26 in archive footage posted on the website of historic newsreel company British Pathe.

The black and white clip is billed as "GI" Christine Returns Home and shows Jorgensen being greeted by a huge pack of cameramen as she touches back down in the USA.

Heres Christine again when she was Woman of The Year which was well deserved, she was very glamorous, beautiful, well groomed with great fashion and style, elegant and very feminine, She had a great sense of etiquette as a lady, she was my heroine

I think Roberta Cowell a former Spitfire pilot and racing car driver was a couple of years before Christine Jorgensen. Roberta Cowell seems to have been overlooked in TS history.

Yes Roberta Cowell seems to be overlooked in TS history, but not here at Susans, there is a thread to her which was discussed in August https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,124231.msg989794.html#msg989794 a very interesting read describing her transition.
