Bradley joined the Navy in 1955 and retired from active duty
in 1974. She was known as Donald Alfred until a transgender operation
in 1999 and speaks out often on the struggle of gays in the military.
She said she was relieved to see a living history project give
students a sober-minded view of war.

That was an interesting story. I like the idea of experienced adults talking with the kids so candidly.
