Joe.

Hey everyone,
I just uploaded some new photos and 1 video to my photo bucket and was wondering if you could take a look please?I know that I don't pass but any tips and comments would be really appreciated. I'm not at all confident about the video but I gave it a shot and was really nervous. Cheers guys.

Nah man don't ever feel stupid or embarrassed. I notices sometimes people dont take the little time needed to give a guy some feedback. Since I'm on my phone I couldn't look at your photos or video ( it loads the page but after a few seconds it goes blank) so I wish I could give you more feedback but I atleast just wanted you to know you shouldn't feel that way. Also I give you credit for making a video and posting it, I still haven't gotten the guts

Hi Joey,

Sorry for not being quicker to this. I hadn't seen your post, otherwise I'd have chimed in sooner. I assure you that nobody is intentionally ignoring you.

I don't have much to base it on, but it seems that you're doing well. I also think you're doing well to have the guts to make a video. I wish I was that brave.

Hey,

your post got pushed down quite a ways so I didn't see it.

I watched the video, and for passing tip, I'd say to cut your hair. Sorry, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you kind of reminded me of Peppermint Patty if she had glasses (Peppermint Patty was always my favorite character in that cartoon).

Jamison started a Do I Pass Video Edition on the main Transsexual Page, if you post there you might get more hits from both transguys and transgirls with your next video.

But, don't be too self-conscious.  ;D

........................

I just got some of your photos to load, the ones of you in the mirror. Your dress seems manly enough from what I can tell, so I think you're on your way to passing.  ;D

If I use one browser I get video and the other not. Go figure. Nothing intentional either. Also sometimes it does take awhile. I have posted and finally two days later someone posts to it.

I think there are two threads that you generally post pictures on-- one is do I pass and the other is I look bada**.

I agree re: the short haircut (or some haircut or other). It's not that all guy's have to have short hair, but it takes more confidence pulling off the longer ones, imo. I had a fairly short haircut and someone in my support group suggested I get it cut *shorter*. It was a great thing for me.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I was just being over paranoid and self conscious. Sorry :/

I'll try not to take that the wrong way. I'm not easily offended anymore,, I guess I 'grew some balls' finally haha. I've changed my dress sense quite a bit lately and I love it as I think I look more like a guy. Once I bind I think I'll be on the right track.

Once I come out to people I think I'll get it cut even shorter but I think this is the shortest I can go at the moment.

Thank you again for your replies and sorry about before.

Joey, NEVER feel stupid for posting.  Sorry no one saw it sooner also.  In my opinion....only in MY opinion mind you.  I second learnedhand, I would try a shorter haircut, more of a masculine style.  It wouldn't have to be buzzed or anything.......I hate that I'm even actually going to say this, but think boyband hair cut.  I know cliche, and maybe you're not that preppy(I have no idea) as I don't know you....but I think something along those lines would look good.  And also just my opinion but I favor you without the glasses, do you have contacts since you had pic both ways.  Good luck, and I wouldn't say you don't pass! I would say you just have so many options hair wise & style.

I know what you mean with the boy band hair style. I want to go the sort of old typical bieber cut once I have the confidence. I love that style and think it suits me. I think I prefer myself without glasses but I can't stand the thought of contact lenses so I will probably stick with glasses for the rest of my life. Thanks for the advice and reassurance.

I agree.
I will tell you that contrary to your feeling that you "can't go shorter". No one at all will care. I don't know that you will pass (I do not), but you might feel better. I have only had one comment about it, with someone making anti-gay comments to me. Everyone else does not. My hair is in a boy cut, I haven't gotten the sides clipped, which is what I really want. But I have to say it has really helped my own confidence. I even came out to my hair  stylist and she has been great.

You can see really really short hair in straight cis women.

BTW, Hudson's has some good info on this (I'm not necessarily recommending the barber at this point, but the other info):

I think that once Christmas has passed and I come out to my parents I can get it cut. If I get beat up in college then I get beat up. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. My mums friend cuts my hair so its a little bit difficult to go somewhere else without my mum asking questions. Thanks for the link, I will have a look at that when I'm on my laptop.

Oh ok, *mom* cuts it. You could suggest a little off your face and a bit shorter?? I sort of think the one side over the eye thing translate female?

Joe.

I tried to ask for it more swept over like the boyband style hair cut and shorter on the back and sides but my hair seems to grow super fast and it just looks like a girl's hair cut again. I tried doing like a comb over type thing and pinning the rest back but I'm not sure if it just made me look more feminine. I'm rubbish at these things.

You can get some clippers and watch some youtube tutorials on how to cut your own hair. You might screw up a bit at first, but you'll get it down quick.

Joey, I think this might be a great idea....to try it yourself.  My only opinion on it is to take off a little at a time, that way if you really mess up there's still hope of going to a stylist to 'save' it :)  I tried cutting my little boys hair for the first time(normally always take him to a stylist but thought i'd give it a go !) And I watche how to do a cut on youtube....very informative! But alas...I totally screwed it up:( and it was super too short, took him to the stylist and at that point there wasn't a lot she could do.  He's four so it wasn't a huge deal and within a few weeks it was fine....but the 'what the heck were you doing' look I got from the stylist! I guess I got 'clipper happy' so just be cautious if trying it yourself, better to start out to long and take more off than go to short when doing it yourself! Good luck, I'm sure you'd do a better job than I did anyway.

I'm petrified about cutting my own hair. Me with mirrors and coordination=disaster. On the plus side I told my teacher today and she was great about it. Really restored my hope in life.
