Umm...i tried to use the search button here but it keeps showing "Due to high stress on the server, the search function has been automatically and temporarily disabled. Please try again in a short while."
Hope i am not breaking any rules here  :-\

I had taken Premarin and Spiro for about 5 months, i am not really sure if it is working but doctor keeps telling me its fine.

It shows here on the recent blood test result saying Estradiol 295 pmol/L [ 28-156 ] and Testosterone 0.3 nmol/L [ 8.6-29.0]. I tried to look for the unit conversion and things on google but i can't seem to understand. Just wondering if i should switch to another doctor or something  ???

I would like to ask, how to know if its working? Since i don't see much changes here at the moment :-\

Sorry if i had broke any rules or being weird here. Thanks.

Sometimes the server needs downtime, so search functions have to be stopped for a while. It should resume within the next day or so.

It's against forum rules to discuss dosage, but what I can say is that hormone therapy takes time, and it sometimes take more time for some than others. I'd say at this early stage, trust your doctor and persevere. It takes several years for HRT to 'settle', so do try to be patient.

Think about it; it took years for your natural puberty to take full effect. What makes you think that HRT will do anything fast? Just be patient; I'm sure the results will come eventually, even if it takes years.  :)

Sorry, but I can't resist--> "Sorry to disturb, but can i ask a question ?_?" --> You just did.

These are not really dosages just results on a test. A pmol is a picomole. Estradiol is measured in picomoles per liter or picograms (pg) per mililiter. On a test results with a range listed are the normals for the test but those can vary on the lab doing the testing. Doesn't your doctor review your results with you?

I'm not a doctor, but in my layperson's opinion those are normal ranges.

As I understand it, the docs try to get an MTF's hormone (E and T) levels to about what a pre-menopausal woman's levels are.

Since I am trying to get out of googling for people, as I remember it the T levels should be 40-50, less is better, and E should be in the 300-500 range.

There are a wide variety of variables however, and it's best to discuss with your doc what he/she is looking for.

Relax, I was just messing with you. Just trust your doctor; he didn't go to medical school and graduate for nothing.  ;)

No offense but I must disagree. Never just blindly trust anyone with your life. Doctors are not gods and make mistakes everyday that kill people.  Unless your doctor is an endocrinologist with experience treating MtF's, there is a good chance that he knows about as much as you do about what your HRT numbers need to be. There is a wild variation in prescribing protocals and most docs that use the protocalls are going to go on the low end.

Doctors work for us and we need to demand propper treatment and sometimes we need to educate them or even push then.

Well you aren't asking for dosages.  As I understand it, you are asking what do the numbers mean.

QuoteIt shows here on the recent blood test result saying Estradiol 295 pmol/L [ 28-156 ] and Testosterone 0.3 nmol/L [ 8.6-29.0].

What that says is that your Estradiol level is 295 molar concentration which is a measure of the amount of Estradiol in your blood.  And the number in the bracket is the normal range in an average female for your age.

The testosterone rating is similar.

What it appears to show is that you have a somewhat higher amount of Estradiol in your system than a typical female of your age.  And you have a significantly lower concentration of testosterone for someone of either sex.  It's almost immeasurably low.

Given that, I would tend to agree with your doctor that the cross hormone therapy you are on is "working", meaning that your blood levels are in line for someone who is attempting to go through a second puberty as a female.

As others here have mentioned, puberty takes years and it is different for everyone.  If you were expecting significant changes to your body in a short period of time, you may be in for a disappointment.  But you WILL change, but it WILL take time.

Also, do not under any circumstances attempt to take more than is prescribed by your doctor!  Self medication can lead to severe liver damage, sickness and even death.  It takes a doctor or endocrinologist to properly interpret the results and their effect on your health.  You won't make your body change any faster by increasing the dosage.  That is why we are so strict in not talking about dosages.

But too, if you are not comfortable with the relationship with your doctor, by all means seek out another.  They are all human, after all.  If you are not getting the answers you want, find one who will.  If possible, find an endocrinologist who has training in cross hormone therapy.

Those results are fine. Your Dr may take you of Spiro as your T level is low. Your estradiol level is fine and on no concern for now. It is common for people on HRT to have higher E levels than the normal range. There is no normal range for TG people on HRT. The endocrinologist basically works from experience with other TG patients. There is quite a large medical literature but a 'true' normal range for TG people has not been worked out as far as I'm aware. It would be concern if E flicks up to >1000 pmol/L and stays there. The low T will probably be reflected in an inability to gain an erection. Your sex drive may also decrease.
