Hello. My name is Olly. I live in England. I recently came out to my freinds and some of my family. I dont know any trans people so that is why I came here :)

It is very difficult being trans. Some days I feel good about myself then there are other days when I feel horrible. Maybe thats just the feelings you experience whilst going through teenage years?? I dont know :) I am very self conscious. Which sounds ridiculous considering I study performing arts at college. I love performing. College is so much better than school. School was awful. My freinds are very supportive. My tutor is really really wonderful. Im quite lucky when it comes to college, most people are very friendly. At home my family know that I am trans but they dont really talk about it. Maybe because I find it difficult to talk to them about it. I live with my dad and my older brother, we dont really have a close relationship.

Through school people said things to me that wasn't very nice. It was only after 3 years of name calling that I realised that I shouldn't let people get me down. We are all just people after all. What right have they got to say such horrible things to me? The bullying continued until I left school but I learnt to deal with it, and to not let it get me down. Because there are always going to be people through-out your life who are going to judge, you just have to ignore it.

Anyways, my life is pretty stressful at the moment but I'll get there. Im just at the stat of my transition.

I hope you liked my introduction and I look forward to visiting this site and getting to know more people like me. Thanks :) x

Hello, Olly, and welcome from southern California.

You are correct, being TG is not easy.  The most important thing, in my opinion, is that you are happy and approve of yourself.  You may or may not ever get the full support of your family at home, but you have the support of your family here.

Olly, welcome & we are all glad you're here, especially since it sounds like you might need a little extra support right now.  I'm sorry you had such a hard time in school, I'd like to really hope that those people that bullied you will grow up....but reality is that some people never do & others are very closed minded.  I'm sorry you don't feel like you can talk to your dad or brother either, but know that you are not alone.  This online forum is more like a family, never feel scared of what someone else will think of you on here....you are completely accepted for who you are & will always be treated with the respect that you deserve.  Hopefully you can find guidance & loving friends here:)
People are people, treat everyone with the same respect and courtesy that you want to receive.
