It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

;D The Clownfish,  because they can change their sex, a female dies , the next male in line becomes female, the next male becomes that females mate. Very gender bender in nature

I like the way a phoenix looks, but if we need a mascot to the world, something less threatening like the unicorn with butterfly wings would be a better choice. They already feel threatened as it is for some reason.

I like the idea of the butterfly being the mascot, although now that it's been mentioned, the clownfish makes sense as a choice too. Then again, butterflies are prettier.  :P

Very fun creatures. They only go one way though. If you have two young clownfish you can watch as the bigger meaner one becomes female. If the female in the tank dies, the male can change to female, but not the other way around.

Another fun gender bender is the seahorse. The male seahorse carries the babies.

Well.... Honestly, in my geology class this semester, I couldn't help comparing being trans with metamorphic rocks.

Edge, this reminds of something I saw on this excellent special on transgender on NatGeo. The doctor they interviewed said something like "nature likes all the grey areas of gender but society doesn't".

For me, it's the Luna Moth.

Not only because of the metamorphosis they go through, but because the book Luna by Julie Anne Peters literally led me to start transition.

Sometimes we just need to believe.

Some frogs can also change gender but I vote for butterflies.  It seems that once they make their transformation they are happy and free.

Frogs also seem like a good idea - I find the tiny ones cute!!!

Someone mentioned it a bit but for the transguys I would say the Common Reed Frog that can change it's genitals from female to male.
