Ok, as it stands now with the political situation, until Bush is out it is highly unlikely a draft will be implimented. I say this because it would be political suicide for republicans with the current shift in public voting. However once the next party takes over, well a draft is highly likely. So it is very real fear I carry of being called back to the military. With prior training and as a medic I feel it is almost certain.

Anyone know how this would work if they do it? If I get called I would most likely go, because I can't ask some one to go in my place. Or maybe my fears are unfounded. Thoughts, opinions?

Tell them that you are TS.  That should get you out of it.

Most of the Pentagon and a number of other major military players are opposed to the draft so do not expect to see one anytime soon. If, by some chance, it is reinstated then sharing a history of therapy visits with a GID diagnosis should keep you out.

Or show up with a same sex partner. 

Just walk in, sing them a verse of "Alice's Restaurant", turn around and walk out and they'll think your crazy and won't take you.    OK, so that only means something to all of us "more mature" people.

No actually LIT is right.  The Pentagon doesn't want a draft because of the quality of people they would get.  It was bad during Nam with who was getting drafted but now it would be 10 times worse.

When You signed up for Your Active Duty, You signed up for 8 Years total.
(   6 years Active, 2 years Inactive Reserves
or 4 Years Active, 4 Years Inactive Reserves
etc...).

All U.S. military contracts are like that.

If You spent 8 years or more active duty, than the above doesn't apply.
Extensions also count if You extended Your enlistment.

For instance, I spent 4 years active duty and then extended for 13 months. So I spent 5 years 1 month active duty.
When I got out, I spent 2 years 11 months in the Inactive Reserves.
Inactive Reserves just means You can be called back, You don't have to do anything like in the active reserves.

Look at Your contract, it makes it clear... kinda.

If you are in your inactive reserve window then you can be called back and that has nothing to do with the draft.

After 8 years from the time You enlisted; You can't be drafted.

Except for the fact that the military throws out TS faster then open homosexuals.  No transsexuals in the military, plain and simple. 

Yeah, you've got nothing to worry about.  The only way we'll see a draft again is if WWIII comes.
