Hey!

I think I first came across Susans.org a few months ago. Filled with red wine and a newfound defiance (against sleep apparently), I decided to continue with research on transitioning. I may have been exhausted beyond belief at the time, but that certainly did not hinder my ability to grasp this community's awesomeness. WOW.

Oooohh, bullet points:

  • In my 27th year of life!
  • Probably too confident for my own good.
  • Really into big, crazy adventures. I want to DO ALL THE THINGS.
  • Growing up, I gravitated towards all things masculine, but I didn't do anything about it until recently.
  • Legally changed my name.
  • Started T almost a month ago.
  • Haven't told my parents any of this and I don't really care. However, I did tell my brother and he said, "I don't get it, but if you're happy, then I'm happy. Bro? Was that why you always had to be Ryu when we played 'Street Fighters'?"

Anyway, I'm totally excited to share and thrive with you all.  Feel free to ask me anything.

Best,
Deven

You really did not think that the man was going to let the world be destroyed 4 days before his b-day, right?

Any way, love your intro bro, happy postings!!

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone! Sorry, it took me so long to response.

I shaved my face for the first time today. It was so cool, and weird (the contact with the razor), but again, SO COOL!  I watched Queer Eye recently and the "straight men speed shaving" parts always made me laugh, but I remembered to go slow and after the shower. ;)

And I finally found hooded thermals (that fit).

Stay warm.
Best,
Dev

Can this actually happen? Please say yes.

Sounds like you've really just taken full control of your life

I credit my dog for this. A few years ago, I adopted a dog that was quite the spaz—even the rescue group thought so. Basically, he pushed me to be in control of life on every level, and in return, he went from a being a cracked-out nutterbutter to a complete saint. A few months ago, he lost his fight with a terminal disease, but I'm still the person he's helped transformed. That's the very short version of it. So now, I just live. Fundamentally, we're all animals and the primal instinct is to live.

Deven, I'm sorry to hear you lost your friend and teacher. I'm a dog person, no question about it. This is Lewis and Clark. Unfortunately, Lewis (the white one) is no longer with us, but I keep his ashes in an urn. Hugs, Devlyn

Thank you, Devlyn. I'm sorry about Lewis. Clark has such an awesome smile. I've got a thing for labs. Hope all is well and happy new year!

Sounds like the cat I rescued a few years back. I was in the second worst depression of my life, but I rescued this big, nasty, fully intact tomcat who eventually transformed into a big lovable boy who only occasionally sank a fang into my calf (old habits die hard). I think he saved my life. I'm bonded with my new cat, but I still miss the Big Guy. He died way too young.

Glad to have you back, anyway. I hope you'll stick around (at least, until the REAL end of the world, which date someone will undoubtedly announce sometime in the next few years).

I'm sorry about your cat, Arch. Glad you had the same kind of companionship, especially through a dark part of your life.

I don't plans to leave. Hah. I'll admit that I've been hesitant to comment on some of the threads because I'm not sure what to say. I have an incredibly thick hide and I find humor in inappropriate things pretty much all the time.  I want to be helpful, but I don't want to be misinterpreted as inconsiderate or lack understanding. Anyway, I enjoy reading what you put up. Laters.
