So yesterday I scheduled a trachea shave surgery for Feb 20th with Dr Ousterhout in San Francisco. Super excited!!

I have read a few places that he is kind of aggressive, which is what I think I need because my adams apple is quite pronounced and I want that sucker gone.

My only worry is with voice, as it is very important to me (duh like everyone ). Anyone have any experience getting a pronounced adams apple shaved? Any issues / did your voice turn out ok?

I havent had the surgery yet myself so I am also curious however I am sure I read it wont effect the inner vocal cords and is a minor surgery so you really shouldnt worry, its not like on of those cord tightning surgeries or anything.

However I wanna know this to.

Hi I didn't have a very pronounced Adam's apple but idid have one and did get a trachea shave (with Dr Brassard). I just remember it felt like I had a throat cold for a couple of weeks afterward. My voice didn't change but after a few months the lump in my throat was gone and I'm happy to report that it never grew back

A friend of mine had trachea shave done by Dr. Nguyen last year and it looks great and it didn't mess with her voice. She had the most promnant adams apple I ever saw and now it is just a faint hint of a scar that is easily covered with some foundation. In a few more years the scar should be completely gone.

So I guess the vocal cords are what I'm worried about most. I dunno why I thought it was such a big deal, I guess cause my apple is so pointy I felt it was probably that way for a reason.

Seems like the risk of permanent vocal problems is fairly low then?

There is no risk if you going to a legal and skilled surgeon. The part they have has nothing to do with the vocal cors its more like excess soft kinda carthalge bone stuff. If your going to a proper surgeon dont worry its one of the most minor surgeries out there.
