Right, ok. So i thought it best to place this here in the androgyne section since it's a term i like to identify with.

I'm ftm androgyne and i want to grow my hair again like back when i was living as female. But i dont want to identify as female. I want people to see a mixture of both guy and girl, at the same time as being my male self.

I have some pictures took before i even knew i was ftm and i would like some opinions. Obviously the colour will be different... possibly i'll keep the black that my hair is now... but i might get a little experimental and i might go red again... Just tell me what you think... if i pass as male or maybe even an androgynous male.

Thanks for any feedback! ^_^

In my opinion, the longer hair tends to make you look more female. In your current avatar, your face would be considered androgynous, neither distinctly masculine nor feminine and slightly more boyish than girlish.

Androgyne.
I am not Trans-masculine, I am not Trans-feminine.
I am not Bigender, Neutrois or Genderqueer.
I am neither Cisgender nor Transgender.
I am of the 'gender' which existed before the creation of the binary genders.

I think you would pull it off. Yeah the hair would be "feminine-looking" if it was long, but I'll bet your attitude would balance things out.

I say go for it-- especially since you miss having long hair.

To be honest, I'm jealous because I think you have a masculine face. Though my hair is in between, I still have quite a feminine face.
Ok, I do choose to not alter my appearance to the point that I look more masculine, and this does not take my gender identity away. But still... I envy you!  :)

hmm.... Well - going by your pictures, if I didn't know you, I would guess male. Honestly. In my opinion, you do not have a female face. So, if I was sitting across from you on the bus, my guess would be an effeminate looking male.
I don't really think hair length is an issue for you. There are lots of 'girly boys' with long hair. I think you have just the right features for the look you're after. So, go for it. :)

hey wishy, if your hair was long and all the same length with no bangs and jet black, you'd look like the emo boys i see in the mall in orange county. i think you could definitely pull of the male look with longer hair, just make sure it's not TOO long,  maybe soulder length, all the same length, parted at the side.

Well, as my hair is growing now i have a longer fringe than anything. I dont intend to have it cut at all for quite some time. Just guna let it grow and see how it looks. But i really want a long long ponytail down my back and then spikey on top, just like Reno's from Final Fantasy... may even dye it red :P or keep it black.... >.> i dont know! >_< lol

Frequently trimming that little bit of hair that grows in front of your ears and cutting it off square so you have little mini-sideburns goes a very long way to de-feminize long hair.

I agree with Emerald that your avatar is a more masculine look than your pics...

But you pull Androgynous off very nicely... :)

In the pictures you posted, you look like one of thousands of prettyboy late teens who haven't been hit by heavy surges of testosterone. You've got a male-leaning androgynous face, and it'll probably keep people thinking you're younger than you are. I think you look better in them than your avatar because you've got the 'grr :|' kinda look going on in it.

You can definitely get away with long hair.

Saturday I went out with some friends to a bar and, after getting ID'd by the door man he asked me what year I graduated.

"I didn't, I was homeschooled  8)"
"Get inside  ::)"

Of course, I -am- 21 and I just got a new photo taken.

Whoa! Wishy with blonde highlights FTW! :o

Those pics really remind me of my "metal" days. Heh... But yeah, long, short, you totally pass for a guy. The first pic especially.

How 'bout i show you a pic of me a year later.... Not so male looking

But those were the days, when i 'tried' to look female and feel comfy as 'female'. But i always felt alien in my body looking like that. I always used to think back then if i tried to look male would anyone notice? And when i went out as i was in the first pics i felt like i was 'home' in my own skin. Yet at the same time terrified if anyone would notice and tell me that i'm really a girl :-/

And now i cant wait until everyone identifies me as male so i can go out piled up with make-up with dresses on ^.^ And not like a CD either.... like an androgyne.

I really like your look in the photo above. But if you don't feel uncomfortable than what's the point? I think i'll pass with longer hair. Go for it. If it's not working out you always have the option of getting it cut again. Good luck.

Wishy, I wouldn't worry so much dude. You look like the average band member here in PDX.
If I met you on Clinton Street, I'd figure you were there to play a gig.

As far as long hair goes, I have worn mine long for the better part of a decade now. I would laugh if anyone said that I look femme with my hair down. I usually tie it back when I work or go out. I only wear it down at home.

You could definitely pull this look off. As long as you have the attitude, no one is going to question you. Attitude is more important than a look.

I've always loved long hair, too and have worn it in many lengths/styles whether I was presenting myself more masculine or feminine. It's not hard to present a male-leaning andro look with long hair. Just wear baggy cargos, T's and other male stuff and walk/act more masculine. As for ways to wear your hair longer while appearing more masculine, check the pic posts at the MLH Hyperboard (link below). This is one of the oldest boards on the web and these guys take long hair seriously.
