That gives us emptiness. Is emptiness the same as nothingness?

You are right.  Then I would say that nothingness is just that, nothing, but we label it in our minds as something by giving it the name nothing, it is like negative space, defined by what is around it even though, it in itself, does not exist.

Nothingness is what you become when you die.

I thought that was compost.

That which is not something. Something infers a conscious thought about meaning, definition, analysis, being, or presence. Meaning no thing, no entity, no part, no portion, no consequence or reaction.

If something exists, and nothing exists, what is it that does not exist? Is nothing something that doesn't exist? or is nothing the absence of something/existence?

'Nothing' is the absence of existence. It is impossible to apprehend any absolute and therefore difficult for a mind to grasp the absolute nature of non-existence. With this line of argument it is probable that the logical conclusion would be that non-existence in it's absolute nature does not exist. There is no absence of existence (see Descartes proof ) and therefore absence of existence is not a logical reality.

nothingness is like stasis. existence suspended, as it were. some would call it a momentary journey back to source, the universal energy. our natural state as it were. very peaceful, yet it can also be very boring. now we know why we come here in the first place. lol

Unfortunately nothing is something.  You can put nothing in a box, and still measure how big it is, so it must be something, no?
