I am just curious of how many of you saw a ghost or something like a ghost, did you get any proof? I have seen once a floating green apparition that went away after i prayed, it was very close to me too, this happened while I was sleeping under a bridge outside.

I have never seen a ghost. But, I really think that I have been around one. It was fun!

Kia Ora Shawn,
A couple of months ago a young Maori girl who worked in one of the local shops on the island, committed suicide. Her tangi= Maori funeral] was held at the local Marae= Maori 'spiritual' meeting place. Well at the time of the Tangi, the power went out in the shop where she had worked 'nothing strange about power going off' but the power went off at the same time the Tangi started, the local electrician couldn't find the fault... The Tangi lasted four hours and the power in the shop came on again at the same time the Tangi ended...Local Maori elders from the Marae  performed a 'blessing' to remove the 'tapu' :

"The origins of tapu date back to the time of creation and the gods: Ranginui - the sky father, and Papatuanuku - the earth mother, and their offspring Tane Mahuta - god of the forest, Tangaroa - god of the ocean, and their divine siblings.
Tapu is closely linked to the Māori concept of mana (respect / authority) and many view tapu as the mana derived from the gods.
In early Māori society, almost every activity, ceremonial or otherwise, was connected to the maintenance and enhancement of mana and tapu.
To maintain the sanctity of tapu, certain behaviours or actions were prohibited.
To disregard the rules of tapu was an offence to the gods. Those concerned forfeited divine protection and were therefore exposed to supernatural evils.
The most common manifestations of this evil were disaster, demonic possession or death. These consequences could also apply to family members, lands and tribes. An individual's level of tapu increases to maximum levels as death approaches.
When someone has died, a tohunga or a priest is called in to remove the tapu from the place and possessions. If this act is not performed, those in contact with the tapu objects are put in danger.
Burial grounds, ceremonial sites, carved houses, and waka (canoe) carry tapu requiring certain restrictions in behaviour.
Women are not permitted to enter a carved house while it is under construction. This undermines the mana of the house, and also the mana of the tribe building the house. Once building is completed, a ceremony reduces tapu so that it's safe to enter.
Fresh water has a special connection to tapu. It has the power to neutralise tapu to levels that are no longer dangerous to people. After a visit to a burial ground or funeral service, water sprinkled on the body lowers tapu!
"

Days after the Tangi local shoppers and staff reported things flying off the shelves, again not unusual if an item is not stacked properly and close to the edge, a little bit of vibration could send it tumbling to the floor. Just before the Tangi the mother of the young girl called into the place where I work, she's known to my work colleagues , well anyway, she had mentioned that her other younger children have been smelling perfume, the type her daughter used to wear throughout the house, and doors have been opening all by themselves, but when the mother was telling us this, it was in a matter of fact kind of way, nothing unusual about this kind of thing happening when somebody dies'...

Well I shop at the shop on a regular bases, once, twice a week,[it's my local], so there I was in the store bending down to pick up some tofu from the cooler shelf, when all of a sudden whoosh then 'thump,'  a packet of coffee had flown off the shelf behind me...I immediately looked around, nobody was in the aisle [the shop wasn't busy] then when over, picked it up, walk around to the other aisle thinking somebody must have pushed it off whilst grabbing something off the shelf behind, I should add how the coffees were stacked on the shelf someone/thing would have had to use force/energy to push it forward aprox 6 inches to the edge and then over to the middle of the aisle, but there was nobody in the aisle.

I should point out when it comes to ghosts, fairies, etc, I'm a sceptic[I'm so sceptical that I don't even believe in my 'self'... old Buddhist joke  ;) ;D]...

So as this first hand experience changed my belief in ghosts ? No not really...Energy is just energy and ones life force is energy... I believe, it's possible the thoughts of this poor young girl' who committed suicide[ thoughts are a form of energy, so I believe] were in such a state of bottled up anger and frustration regarding her life's predicament , [she had just split up with her boyfriend and she was [I was told] 'pregnant']. The energy generated by all these 'unhappy/negative thoughts still needed to be released, hence the things flying off the shelves, etc...

Now I could be wrong but for the time being, this energy theory sits well with me...

Sounds like a good definition of a ghost to me :)

Yup. And it isn't random. Everytime I go to their house I grab a maglight, place it on the stair landing and ask it questions. It will not just flicker on randomly...itll literally do it right after a certain question. I tried to debunk it. I jumped up and down next to the flashlight, ran a vacuum cleaner near it, had their dogs and cat run and sit next to it...itll only turn on and off when we ask

When this video was taken we had already been talking to it for 40 minutes. She even spinned the top on the floor...hence, why you see a top just laying there.

While we were having dinner one night, the dining doors opened and then closed. These doors are 150 year old heavy wood doors with no hinges. You literally have to slide each door into the wall or out of the wall to enclose the room (a wooden patio door kinda).

I do believe that ghosts are real.  I have seen them on many occasion, and in different locations.  Depending on how they died, can determine whether or not they are peaceful or not.

I have seen ghosts or what I believe to be ghosts and this is why I personally believe in them.  I have not captured them on video or pictures or through recordings because the instances just happened suddenly; I didn't go "hey, ghost, you should stay around for a minute so I can grab my camera" [like that would have worked anyway].

My instances have never had a negative connotation except for once.   This one involved something that I never got a peg on, but it was causing a negative atmosphere and my dog was terrified of coming into the bedroom or walking down the hall.  The other times were just small instances such as being rolled over on the bed to be "woken up" [that's what it felt like even though I was awake], another involved three footsteps followed by a howl in my parents' room [this was later confirmed by my sister who had heard the same thing], and other instances involving shadow creatures.

My mom has had a negative instance, however, and it resembled Haggings [or experiences involving the Hag/Old Hag], but she prayed and it went away after the second happening.

Anyway, obviously I believe in them.  I don't expect others to believe, either, as I didn't until I had the experiences.  I'm also of the mind that it was all possibly made up by an over active imagination.  I just don't know and it doesn't really matter.

Yeah the James Randi faq says they are looking to debunk people with supernatural powers, if you pass the formal challenge you win

I just watched a movie with Robert De Niro about exposing paranormal frauds, it was good.

Randi is very fair.  If there truly is supernatural phenomena I'm sure he'd like to experience it as much as anyone else.
