Congrats!
Wow Zumbagirl you sound awesome! I love cars as well, I have a VW, im only 20 so I dont quite have a collection yet lol. May I ask what you do for a living? If I dont have a Porsche 911 and G-class in my driveway in my lifetime im going to be awfully dissapointed lol.
Sure thing. I work in senior management in IT in one of the Hartford ct area insurance companies. I know a good 4 more of us in this area who are living quiet lives but doing well financially. I ended up in a better position because my background is in engineering. Specifically I am a mechanical engineer by education. Before that I also worked, quite stealthily, at one of the large defense contractors in CT and even had security clearance. I am absolutely positive that the government knew of at least my name change, probably my gender one too, but it never stopped them from giving me clearance. Then again from what I saw, the government is fighting a losing battle trying to hire talent and there are just not enough engineers and scientists in this country to keep up with technology anymore.
My career took off like crazy after my transition. I think I described this way in another post on here. Before I used to have 20% of my brain thinking about what gender I was and 100% of my free time trying to fix it

Once I was done, that 20% went down to 0%. I felt like I was set free in the world, like literally nothing could stop me. I started to have a lot of ambition and one of the first places it showed was at work. I had a laser focused mind at work, my productivity was soaring and I had never been happier. Then I got a huge raise, followed by another huge raise, followed by a huge bonus, followed by a promotion and then another promotion. In the past 10 years I have tripled my income. Suddenly, I found myself working with coworkers who owned 911, maseratis, Aston martins, range rovers, etc. I had to keep up what the joneses, so it was time to buy something cool. I love cars, always have and probably always will.
G-classes are nice. Up near where I live is Smith College in Northampton and there are a lot of women who are driving around in g classes up around the campus. There is an unusually high concentration of g class wagons up here. If you ever saw the transgeneration TV show one of the trans guys was a student a smith, in fact we share the same endo in real life
