I waxed my legs for the first time today. Technically, it's sugaring, which is supposed to be less painful than waxing. I have no frame of comparison, but...

It hurts! Not unbearably so, but first timers, prepare for pain. I'm using the Shobha Sugaring Kit, and it worked EXTREMELY well. It's only $30, but I would recommend buying additional denim strips if your legs are as hairy as mine were. The first leg took us (my personal care worker and myself) almost $40 minutes to do, but once we got the hang of it we did the second leg in 10 minutes. It really helps if you keep the sugaring gel thin.

Anyway, I had caveman legs before and now they are silky smooth! Even my assistant was amazed at how smooth they are. I'm a happy girl!

hooray for smooth legs! But I don't know if I could wax myself in the future. It seems to hurt less to me when someone else does it.

Well, to be fair, I didn't do anything but wince and mutter swear words. ;) My assistant did it all.

If you think waxing hurts you should NOT try using an epilator!  I've done waxing a few times and the pain isn't too bad.  Epilating - hurts like hell the first time.  Second time isn't so bad though as long asyou don't let the hair grow too much between cycles.

Nothing wrong with a bit of pain, just ask Cindy about her whips and branding irons!

I tried an epilator for a while and found that HRT made the hair too fragile and broke it off below the surface, causing unbearable itching.  Now I either wax or shave.

I thought about an epilator, but I figured it would less bothersome to remove large areas at once.

Yup, no pain, no gain! It seems that, besides money, pain is the price to pay for beauty.

Waxing needs to be done less frequently after HRT as less and less grows back.Cheer up the first one is always the worst one!

I remember the first time I had silky smooth legs (one DIY waxed, the other shaved)....

I was like, "OMG I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this feeling!". After that near-orgasm, I would do anything to get that silkiness again...pain be damned!

:-)

Enjoy!
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

When I waxed my legs there was some hair on the back of my calves that never grew back and I have never been on HRT.
Maybe its my age that caused this?

I haven't been waxing long enough (or ever let the hair grow enough) to tell if removing the hair frequently has caused any to quit growing.  But I do know that over the years I have had some areas on my legs that have gone bald and have been silky smooth for quite a while.  I wish I knew the trick to that and could get the rest of the hair to follow their lead.

I know when I used to wear Army boots, the area above my ankle to the top of the boot was always bare and VERY smooth. They stayed smooth, even when I stopped wearing boots. I don't know if it was how tight the laces were, or friction between boot-and-leg...

But I loved it even tho I was a "guy". ;)

Its funny you mention that Beth as that is one of the areas that's gone bald.  My lower calves do have almost no hair and I've been wearing almost nothing but combat boots for the past 18 months.  Interesting...

ok.. I really have no idea where to take that idea.. .. but still... interesting...   ;D

I just switch my wax to Bliss Poetic wax and am soooooooooooo much happier with the results! Its a bit more expensive than the drugstore brands, but out preforms them in every way. :icon_joy:
