Alright, I'm not very stylish when it comes to these introduction posts, but I'll try my best to be coherent and not send everyone to sleep with the little details. First off, I'll say that I'm Sean, 19 from Scotland. Now, I think it's really beautiful that you guys and girls will be the first people I've
actually introduced myself as 'Sean' as, since for the past five years now I've had so much agony over my first name. I always knew I was a 'Sean/Shaun/Shawn' way back when I first decided transitioning was the only way for me, but my mother pointed out that we already had a 'Shaun' in the family. I was a little peeved about it at first, but I thought I had no choice but to chose an alternative, right? I chose Alex eventually, mainly as it is a unisex name and if anyone 'slipped up' in college, it wouldn't have been as embarrassing for me. I was 16 and I was a little dubious as to whether or not I should present as 100% male at the time, even though I had the intentions of it before term. To cut a long story short, I wasn't happy with being an 'Alex' and I had been going by the name 'Shaun' to those I talked to online anyway, so I decided I would go with it no matter how complicated my family would find it. I mean, they have fathers and sons named after one another, don't they? So, yeah, I altered the spelling and am now Sean.
I'm FTM, although I don't really think of myself like that. I think for a while there I wanted to just block out the whole transgendered label and be a normal guy, but I realise how ridiculous that is, especially since there is so much support around, and so many other people who could do with support. As for my transition, I started taking Sustanon 250 (mainly outside U.S, for all you Americans who are thinking 'wha the Hell is that?) which makes me produce testosterone, I believe. It was around June 2006 I think I had my first shot at every 6 weeks, and later my endo moved me up to every 4, so it's going at a nice steady pace. Voice has dropped, got a delicious tummy trail going on and ->-bleeped-<-, so I'm very happy with the outcome so far. The next step for me is obtaining a gender recognition certificate, which will mean I will be able to marry as my male gender, apply for a new birth certificate and national insurance etc. I'm doing that at the moment although I'm going to have a couple of problems proving I have been living as trans for two years since I never officially changed my name.
Now I got the boring stuff out of the way, I can write a little more on me personally. I live in a horrid place called Glasgow where the streets are black and the people wear sports gear 24/7, yet do no exercise. Luckily, I share a great little apartment with my flatmate Nick, who actually prompted me to join this forum. His user is Judge Yourself. We're pretty much best friends, even though we've had our ups and downs, but it's good to not be living under your parents roof anymore. Besides, Nick pays for the Sky, so I get free TV practically - woohoo! Agh, I'm rambling. What do I like? Well I'm a big fan of music, mostly rocky stuff, old and new. My favourite bands are probably people like Placebo, QOTSA, The Doors, The Smiths, White Stripes, Kings of Leon and Billy Talent. I play guitar myself, although I'm a lazy pig when it comes to actually learning new stuff, so lately I've been trying to get on YouTube and get me some free lessons. I'd write more, but I'm sure you'll find out more about me if you don't already want to shoot me.
Just a short one (by my standards) to say hello to everyone, especially the transmen out there.
