I wanted to ask if anyone here has ever attempted obtaining pastel hair colors? Pastel hair colors are like their normal color counterparts, but are a lighter, more diluted, and faded look of the original color. It requires a massive amount of bleaching to get the base color of your hair light enough.

I am now trying to get pastel hair color in my hair. I had one failed attempt, but it was decided my hair was not light enough. I wanted to know if anyone here has experience doing this to themselves, and want to hear about your successes and failures. It is recommended to not only bleach your hair, but tone it to make it more of a white color rather than light blonde. However, I was advised that this step was unnecessary as all it does is add purple to your hair to cancel out the yellow blonde and make it appear lighter, but it does not actually lighten it and won't make a difference. Is this true?

Yes tried multiple times! My best results were with blue or purple, pinks greens oranges and reds dont work well in the brands ive tried (he green went flurescent orangey yellow lol)

Okay so best methods! What i generally do is buy a pre made color (manic panic is great because its a decent texture and a little goes a long way) then i take a small amount and mix it with my everyday shampoo making sure its not something that strips color like head and shoulders does or anything with honey, then when im in the shower i wash my hair as normal and leave the shampoo in for a little longer. My hair is a mosey brown so i do have to bleach it but over bleaching will cause ur hair to die! I had to shave mine off because of over bleaching lol also use a color protect conditioner and u should be fine! Chlorine kills the color quickly so avoid that.....and i think thats it really
