The other day I was trying to work out whether or not I had pec muscles or not under the unnecessary bits on my chest and realised that the ribs, starting at the underside of my breasts stick out about a centimeter more than the ones beneath.  Is this how a ribcage is supposed to be shaped?  I'm just concerned that it's always going to look weird when I eventually, one day, get top surgery?  Hopefully I'll have some recent pecs by then so it'll not look too odd if it's not normal, but yeah, is everyone's like that?

mine do that. before i had surgery i was worried id be left with "rib boobs" but it doesnt look like that at all. some ppl have a condition where there is a large dent in the sternum that might make it appear to be "rib boobs" but you'd know if you had that.

My ribcage is horribly uneven with the left side sticking out more than my right by about 2cm (and more than my chest, strangely). According to my doctor, that pesky second 'x' in the chromosome can cause that, seeing as women tend to have a more uneven rib cage than men. However, I have seen plenty of guys who have the same thing. If you were ever pressed, just say you had a developmental problem when you were a little kid. No one's body is totally symmetrical.

My rib cage is quite asymmetrical, with one side ending in a smooth line meeting with my body, and the other side sticking up and out.  (I don't even know which side would be considered "normal.")  I've even noticed that some of them stick out higher up on my chest, and sometimes when I go to flatten a lump I see under my binder, I find that it's a rib.  I actually asked one of my doctors about this years ago.  He said "Here, feel mine!  Nobody's are perfectly symmetrical."  So it's totally normal.  That said, there are things that can cause your chest to be caved in or sticking out, which sometimes requires surgury, but a little unevenness is nothing to worry about.

My son has "pectus excavatum", i.e. a nice dent in his chest. I have a slightly protruding xiphoid process, so appearance-wise the opposite from him.

Went and got me a ticker, so everytime I post I'm reminded to put down whatever I was about to eat. >.>

Mine seem symmetrical, just stick out a little under my breasts. It's good to know that rib cages aren't all the same so it's not unusual to have something a little odd going on there.
