Is the absolute boredom of lying on that bed and staring at the walls. This is day 5 and I'm already going cabin fever... even the prospect of visiting the vanity to wash my face sounds intriguing.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but your dilators are going to be your best friends in the world for a while I know it sucks being trappd from surgery, but it does get better.

now is a good time to perfect meditation skills...

i have to agree with them. the first 7 days are pooh. but wait till you get back and have to revolve everything around your special times for like 6 months. i know come april 22nd im going buck wild when im down to once a day. haha

I could have said feces, dung, etc.  Anything other than the slang for it.  That would be a no-no for a mod. 

Congrats Milktea. Hang in there it's almost over and don't try to do too much until your muscle strength came back. I almost fell on the floor when I started to walk a few steps after 7 day bed rest. Get someone to help you walk would be a good idea.

After my 'colovaginoplasty' I was sitting up on the side of the bed the next day, and after 48 hours I was walking [with the help of the nurse] along the corridor to have a warm salt bathes...I was discharged four days later...The average hospital stay is between 5.to 7 days...The surgeons who perform the surgery [there were three] encourage patients to get mobile asap...[My surgery was in Christchurch New Zealand]

Sitting was painful, but as someone already mentioned 'dilation' is where the real fun and games begin...

Stay strong and I wish you a speedy recovery...

Zenda - It fascinates me how different the various surgeons are about this. (And I am quite sure there is no one right answer, and that each doctor is choosing the best policy for their patient and/or procedure; I'm not criticizing.)

Brassard likes to have his patients walking by 18 hours afterward, and doing circuits of the hospital or residence every 2 hours after the second day.  On the other hand, he discharges people to the residence from the hospital on day 2, and only recommends a stay of 7 days there, unlike Suporn's month of residency.

Considering how stir-crazy people became under *his* regimen, I have SO much sympathy for the people undergoing Suporn's week of bed rest. But of course it's all worth it in the end.

whatever the good doctor says! i had my walk today...i  was mumbling thats one small step for me, one big step for mankind...the nurses had no idea what the joke was. tks to all for warning me about fainting....i took things extra slow and had no problem taking a shower on my own, which is godbless after 5 days.

strangely i feel strong enough and not really any pain down there...though there were some light bleeding. i assume that is normal.

Congratulations. You're doing well girl.

Keep up the mighty effort, we'll have you ripping phone books in half by the end of the week
