Hi guys,

So I was wondering if anyone has expereince with repairing packers.  I've heard of guys sewing and gluing their packers back together, with varied  success.  I'm thinking that someone must have a solution that yields slightly more "finished" results.  As I write this, I'm attempting to mend some peeling and splitting on my RM basic packer, and some...err...bite marks...in one of my VixSkin hard packs using a suggestion I found here:

I couldn't find the exact product they recommend in the thread (GE Silicone I) but I was able to find a comparable replacement.  It's aquarium safe, so I assume that means it doesn't have any of the gross plastic softeners and fuguscides in some caulking agents:

Not too shabby, I think.  Especially in small quantities, I can't imagine the cured product being more harmful than most "sex toy" materials.

Bite marks, hmm. You lead a MUCH more exciting life than I do. But I digress. I think aquarium safe (particularly if it would be salt water tank safe) would work. A lot of salt water animals are extremely sensitive to everything. Good idea. Couldn't get the link to work.

BTW, to those who wonder why you aren't just heating it up. Can't do that with silicone.

Also, what do you mean by "heating up" packers in order to fix tears?  I've never been able to get that to work.  Any tips?

They're all working today.
Hmm, worded that wrong. Should be a heated instrument. Don't think it would work too well, but if there was a little gash on Mr. Limpy you might heat a screwdriver and try and smooth things out. I'm gather it would do more damage than leaving it alone.
