howdy. i'm jesse. ftm. husband of seebs. juggernaut of swag. :D

i figured out i was trans in my 30's. before that i thought i was just a very butch woman with an uncanny knack for attracting gay boys. i wasn't forced into female gender roles as a kid, which is probably part of why it took me so long to figure it out, but it also kept me from being as traumatized by misgendering as a lot of folks are. when i came out to my parents, my dad was like, "well, duh." my mom was kind of upset at first; she confessed to me later that she felt she was losing her little girl. after she had a while to get used to it, though, she realized that she'd never had a little girl -- nothing changed, we're just using the right words for me now. all told, i've been pretty lucky.

i'm a writer; i write original fiction, fanfic, and comics. i'm jumpingjacktrash on tumblr, feel free to look me up there (be warned, it's full of naked dudes and foul language; also i'm not out as trans there, just because tumblr is full of people who politicize trans folks and i don't want to deal with the clusterfracas). i also like knitting, science, outdoor stuff, and cats. well, all animals really. especially the weird-looking ones. cuttlefish are adorable, yo. and jumping spiders. and bats, do you know how cute bats are, wow.

i apologize in advance if i slip up and swear here. it's been a while since i've been in an environment where anyone cares, and my default language is gutter like whoa. just tell me if i mess up and i'll edit it.

Hi jesse, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 9800 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother & SO.

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

yeah, i saw that bit of the tos, that's why i said let me know and i'll edit it. i'm just aware that habits sometimes pop up even when you're on guard, and i want y'all to know i'm not doing it on purpose if that happens. but i'm going to try my best not to swear in the first place, promise.

Hi jesse,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Although we've spoken before, I couldn't help but to respond to your lovely intro. I do hope you find a comfy chair round the table here, after all, diversity is the life blood of such institutions as Susan's. And the knitting club meets every Tuesday over in the corner.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine
