Hi everyone, my name's Arthur. I'm a 19 (not 17, oh ye of little typing skill :P) year old Brit who's come from Guernsey, a tiny island in the middle of nowhere, to a town in Ontario, Canada. I'm currently pre-T, but I've been seeing a doctor and I'm on the way towards taking the shots. I'm not out to everyone yet, but it's something I'm working towards.

It's a running joke that I'm from the fourties - I'm pretty old-fashioned to be honest. I'm a big fan of jazz and swing, although my friends have been educating me on more modern music (by which I mean stuff from the sixties). I'm pretty terrible at pop culture. I'm quite a big book fan, especially fantasy. I adore Tolkien, partially for his great abilities as a linguist. I'm an amateur conlanger and I'm learning Ancient Latin and Greek.

Just to counteract all of this old fashioned, I'm studying Computer Science, and have a deep-seated love of computers - Alan Turing is my historical boyfriend - and I'm a pretty big nerd. I'm a big Doctor Who and Sherlock fan, and I'm partway through Homestuck and adoring it. I'm also a huge Pokémon fan.

I'm hoping to meet some people who are going through the same situations or have already come out the other side. I'm hoping to make some friends, and chat about things too!

I'm pretty excited to be joining the community.

Hi Arthur, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 9800 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother.

Hi Arthur,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Glad you found us and your plan is going forward really well. Don't be too worried about all the Dr Who, Sherlock and Pokemon stuff. A good therapist will no doubt cure you of that

There is no shortage of those that have been where you are, and have survived. Hope they call round soon.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi Arthur, welcome to the forum.

It's nice to see someone here that has a extreme duality of taste associations like me. I'm also pretty deeply involved with computers, graphics, games, web and print media design but nothing beats relaxing with a good book to the silenced background of classical or jazz music while smoking a pipe and fantasizing about the past. Oh and maybe some tea... or wine... or even better, some absinthe to open up the gates of imagination to live the book's tale vividly.

Whoever indulges in... should I call it "ritualistic reading?" knows what I'm talking about. Welcome Arthur, I hope you enjoy your stay and find friends. I'm sure we're not the only nostalgics and melancholics here.

Welcome to the site, Arthur. I'm a fan of Tolkien because of his creativity.
I love jazz, especially from the 1950s and 1960s.
