Hi, I plan on visiting my GP/Surgery that's closest to where I live, where I'm registered, to ask for a check on my hormone levels. I know they will not do it there, they will probably direct me somewhere else, or sth. But, is it possible to just ask for it and get it? or they probably gonna refuse and I am going to have to do it in some private surgery?

If you're registered there, just make a GP appointment and ask to have your bloods checked (specifically hormone levels), tell them you want them for base readings. There should be no problem at all with that, and in most surgeries they'll make you an appointment to have the bloods taken by a nurse within a few days of seeing the GP.

Oh, that's lovely then. Because I have a pretty bad, or actually maybe quite mediocre experience with regular GPs, as they don't really know what to do, they're really unfamiliar and I don't want to end up without anything. Thanks!

My GP was unsure at first.  She won't prescribe me anything, and was unsure about helping out with blood tests at first.  I made an appointment with her, and took along some of the NHS leaflets printed out from Gires.org. To her credit she took them home, did some reading and agreed to provide blood tests.

I think if you sit down with them, explain your situation and your plans for going forward they should be OK.

Don't expect them to prescribe though, I know some people get HRT from their GP but I've never found one in my area who will.

No, get them to refer you to a gender clinic, because the clinics will be better able to support you.
