For starters, we dissected a pig's heart, lungs, kidneys and liver in biology class today. I also got chocolate from a girl in class, so... well, frankly I have no idea how to deal with the chocolate thing since I can't be sure if she gave it to me on a platonical girl-girl-friendship basis or on a maybe-romantic-basis, since I don't know if she percieves me as a girl, a guy or something in between. Either way I'll give her some chocolate as well tomorrow :) It was super sweet of her, the first time I've ever gotten something on Valentine's Day.

I think I would have to avoid anyone who sent me a card as anyone attracted to me must be more disturbed than I am

Haha.  I got two Valentines.  I got a Tootsie Pop from my boss and a bag of beef jerky from my mom (who knows I try to avoid sugar).  A big drop from the previous two years when I was a second grade teacher and got all kinds of goodies from my kids and coworkers...
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
Why bounce around to the same damn song?

I've never gotten anything on the Valentines day.  Today was the first time anyone actually said "Happy Valentines Day" to me -- last year me and my girlfriend were sort of going out without saying it to each other and I was out of the country -- and I think I annoyed her by responding "Happy National Condom Day"...  I did walk my dogs over to her house and got a couple of minutes with her, but as she's on crutches so can't drive or walk to mine at the moment and my dogs aren't allowed in the house that's all I got.  Was kind of sweet though because when we started talking I used to use walking the dogs as an excuse to sneak out and go and see her for a couple of minutes.

I've actually got a date tonight. It will be the first Valentine's Day I have celebrated in about 11 years. My ex-wife did not like to celebrate it. I'm quite excited!

Because I'm witty and funny.  :P

Surprisingly, no one has snatched me up yet.  :P

Seriously though, I spent the day on my own, but having some lovely and loving communications with friends by email, text, phone - and a nice exchange of unvalentines with my friend-belovèd who has yet to find out just how crazy I am about her. Oh, and I bought a life-size black panther soft toy, and am waiting for her to show up :D.

Padma, your kitty looks so sad.  :( I hope your panther shows up soon.

I just took myself out for a dirty chai and banana pancakes at my favorite independently owned cafe. Great timing to come here, it's just me and the guy working behind the counter.

Now... if I can only get myself to concentrate on Secured Transactions I'll have a free weekend.....

I am 18, and I frankly don't mind being single. Being in a relationship sounds very expensive, not to mention requiring a lot of effort. I'm too lazy to participate.  ::)

Oh sorry, thought you were still in high school.

I perfer being single too for the most part, though sometimes it's fun to have someone. I am just too focused right now on my own stuff to want to be in another relationship anytime soon. My dog is enough for me.

My partner is away, no plans. But then we never did anything for V-day anyway even before I was out. I've never had any partners enthusiastic about this day. Now I just see it as another conglomerate holiday because then I don't get sad if I'm alone on it.

It's frothed chai tea with a shot of espresso. Yum!

I am in high school. Honestly, there are sophomores with more experience than me. A sophomore hid behind me when some girl walked by. I asked him what was up, and he told me that she was his ex. Seriously? He's 15 and he already has an EX? What?!

Oh please, when I was 10, this boy I befriended in a production we were doing said he had three exes, and he was the same age as me. He then had to go on and explain what he meant by an ex. Oh, what an educational experience that was for me.

And now I'm spending this Valentine's Day explaining to this friend person ex but not really why love is a stupid concept and what really goes on when people fall and stay in love and how a benefit score comes into play because people are naturally selfish and not aliens like me. In other words, I'm explaining the scientific reason why he just acted like a not nice person.

I don't know if that's the right terminology re: benefit score, but basically I described how the brain is flooded with hormones in response to falling in love, and how that is only a short-term thing before a plateau is reached in regards to romance. Then bonding occurs through oxytocin, the cuddling hormone, which is a controlled substance here now. It's also used as a powerful painkiller, but not like it used to be because of its addictive properties. Ironically, the market for ADD/ADHD drugs including amphetamines (yes, medical-grade meth and speed are somehow able to cure attention issues) is still going strong with only minimal gatekeeping via a really dumb attention test that anyone could fail without even trying to do so. Benefit score stuff was an explanation of how people are selfish and operate on what will statistically benefit them the most- a friendship is still beneficial, but a relationship may not be, therefore he has expressed a desire to terminate said relationship.
