Hmm.... it's kind of a hard one, because I think there's really no easy fixes here. For some reason I want to say that you should try other glasses, because I think they make your face seem a little softer, but I've seen bio-males wearing similiar glasses. Maybe next time you need glasses, try on some different styles? I think working on your arms will help you a lot, just having a stronger and more defined figure will probably help you pass a lot more.

This is me, and what I was wearing when I was misgendered the other day.
And this is what I sounded like

Nygeel, I am shocked that you were misgendered! You look so manly, especially with your facial hair, and your voice sounds very male to me. Your clothes seem very male too, so I have no idea why anyone would misgender you.

Edit: is this happening at places where there's a lot of lesbians?

Happened at Macy's the other day when I made a return. Mostly when I'm out of the house it's for work stuff so that's like...an electronics store.

Edit to add: or sometimes taco bell because I'm a sucker for taco bell.

Nygeel, Do you happen to live near or in a city with a large gay and lesbian population? If so, that could be why you have a hard time being misgendered. I went through the same when I lived in Northern Jersey. This was twelve years ago but no matter what I did I couldn't pass to save my life. Then I'd go out of the city for the weekend and never had a problem. In my experience people in larger more populated areas are used to seeing masculine women/feminine men and question gender far more often than country bumpkins who doubt transsexuals even exist outside of Jerry Springer.

I'm near NYC but in a conservative part of my state (which is where this is happening).

Nygeel ... yeah you totally look male. Did you get your name change on your ID/cards (can't remember if you did)? That of course could do it if you were returning something and had to show ID or anything.

I'd like to just see inside people's brains sometimes to figure out what makes them think female over male. I could see when you didn't have any facial hair at all how people could screw it up, but now? Boggling.

Dean-- for me I think your shirt isn't the best.  It's got really short sleeves that remind me of a baby tee.  When I imagine a t-shirt with longer sleeves or a hoodie or something, I think you'd look like a pre-teen or possibly young teenage boy.  Another easy tip is try to stand with your legs a little apart.  I know I see a lot of men stand in all kinds of ways, so it's not like it's not manly to have your legs together, but for us, it helps mask the hips and give a slightly more male appearance if we're cognizant of how we're standing.  Keep them slightly apart with your weight balanced between to the two feet as much as possible.  Like Nygeel's standing in his picture.

But you're definitely in a good place.  The hair looks right.  The glasses don't hinder you passing to me, at least.  And you've got a very androgynous, if young looking, face and body.  So you're in a good spot right now.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.

They didn't see ID or a credit card or anything before misgendering me (and actually didn't see it after either). I haven't had the name and/or gender marker change yet because it's pricey here even with a waiver. I think I trimmed my facial hair a week or two ago. I shaved my upper lip a couple days ago because it gets to a point where it looks and feels weird. In general I don't shave my face (other than my mustache area). It would happen when I had long chops too.

Hey, this is my first post in here. I thought I'd ask for passing tips, since I'm misgendered about 99% of the time :\

I'm 20 years old and I've been on T for almost 4 months now. My voice has deepened a little bit, but its in a range between low female and high male? I don't have any recordings of my voice, but I'm told by a few people that my voice is pretty androgynous.

Apparently I passed better when I was pre!T and my hair was a bit longer in the front? Because I had a particularly funny situation where I asked a man for directions once, but he wasn't looking at me. As he started to say "ma'am" he turned around, saw me, and stopped mid-word. I'm pretty sure because he was confused if I was a "ma'am" or not. Nowadays, though, I don't get any sort of reaction like that. Everyone calls me by female pronouns despite my name being "Vinnie" as well as my blatantly male form of dressing.

Sadly, if I cut my hair too short I end up looking like a twelve year old butch lesbian so I know cutting my hair won't help at all. (Though that picture is pre!T).

Ugh. Any help?

Actually I think you pass better with the "12 year old butch lesbian" look :'D Maybe cause your haircolour is more natural to me.

Aaaand a quick question:
How old do I look?

I bought beer today and wasn't carded and didn't get any weird look, is it possible that I look at least 18?
Thanks
