So in an effort to move past last week's drama I seem to have caught an Archery bug. Problem is I can't seem to find a good beginner's guide to how to start out. Anyone know or can suggest a good way to start archery? The plus and minuses of learning/using the three types of bows?

Compound bows are great for hunting.  Short and powerful.

English long bows can be fun, but difficult because it takes strength.

The standard short bow is a good one to learn on.

Is the short bow another way of saying recurve? Google isn't being clear on that for me.

Yes it is also called a recurve.  I had a 45# compound Bear bow.  I loved it.  When deer hunting with it.

And for those who might not know: a 45# compound means that it takes 45 lbs to pull the bow to full length.  Which when released would be the same power as an 80 lbs bow.  The Bear part is the maker, Bear Archery

I loved taking archery lessons! What I did is go for the adult education classes, provided by the government... Cost me 50 bucks to join for weekly lessons, and 50 bucks for the arrows (They should provide you with a bow). Its really a good place to start!
