Would salad cream be anything like salad dressing? I picked that. I don't eat mayonnaise.
Bon appetit. :)

ooh I love mayonnaise, almost always have.

I'm guessing salad cream is the British equivalent of salad dressing, or, Miracle Whip.

I was going to ask what's Miracle Whip myself.  'Salad Cream' is a new one to me, I'll have to look for it on store shelves.  Is it regional, like Hellmann's/Best Foods?

"Salad Cream" is indeed equivalent to "Miracle Whip" and is a revolting pathetic substitute for mayonaise.

Mayonaise is an emulsion of vegetable oil in lemon juice stabilized by lecithin, that last being aquired from egg yolks. I am not sure what salad cream really is. Mayonaise can be made at home and it is fun to do so and results in extra-tasty mayonaise. Salad cream no doubt emerges from a giant machine.

I'll go with plain old, mayo, wishy.  "Best Foods" brand, the best mayo on earth!  :P

I'm guessing mayonnaise will win as only the Brits seem to have salad cream - but mayonnaise is nicer so it deserves to win.

Wishy,

I think that you are being discriminatory to those of us for whom dairy is not a lifestyle choice.
Therefore, I respectfully request that you include a category of mustard-spreaders to be more diversity-friendly.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Salad cream is awesome, for all you doubters. It's definitely not like Miracle Whip. They might have it in American stores as English Salad Cream, with the salad dressings.

And I voted salad cream.

I am merely offering a choice between two dressings. Discrimination has nothing to do with it so i refuse to part-take.  Though, it dont stop you making a mustard-spreaders poll of your own of which i would gladly discriminate against for all those who dont like mustard. *insert cheeky grin*

good luck

Wondering what salad cream is made of, I looked it up.

Neither salad cream nor mayonaise contain dairy. Both are oil-emulsions with an acid (lemon juice in one case, vinegar in the other) stablized with egg yolks.

That wasn't the point Doc. I was making a point of calling Wishy to task for validating a society where only two kinds of sandwich spreads can exist! He is crushing personal sandwich making creativity, and cotributing to non-diversity in the 'wich world.

What about it Wishy? I'm calling you out!
