This is me, and what I was wearing when I was misgendered the other day.
And this is what I sounded like

...Woah. I seriously don't understand how you could've been misgendered - especially with that voice!

I know I pass on a regular basis, but summer is upon us and I was wondering how I pass in these tank tops I just bought. I've yet to wear them out to really know, but I was wondering what you guys think.
It looks alright. My only beef is the length. If you can make it a few inches shorter it would look much better. The only issue I have personally with myself wearing horizontal stripes is they can make you look shorter while vertical ones can help make you look taller. Also, having a consistent pattern or coloring helps too (ex: dark shirt, dark trousers).

I'm pre T and it definitely shows  :embarrassed: I pass most of the time though, people usually think I'm a 14 yo boy  :P

@Dominik: I wish you'd read my post. I said I know I don't pass, but I was asking for tips on passing. Simply stating I don't pass is not only redundant, but also kind of mean without offering some help like I asked for. Kinda ruined my day, to be honest.

Does anyone have tips on maximizing my voice deepening now that I'm on T? I've been on for 4 months without any significant change in anything, really. So if you know tips on making my voice go deeper, I'd appreciate it.

Vinnie,
Just my opinion, but I'm thinking maybe the hair color? I thought you passed in the pic you said looked more like a 12 year old....but I personally am thinking it wasn't the cut it was the not bright color. Just my opinion, and I don't know that the color is REALLY it. I don't think you'don't pass' as is actually so this is purely just throwing out something it could be in person to others. Good luck!

Record yourself with a camera, not just a microphone, so you can see how you project. Hold your hand over your sternum, so you can feel where your voice is vibrating,  and practice speaking from your chest not from your throat.  At first throwing your voice down will sound odd, but watching yourself you'll see it isn't and it can make you more confident to do it around others.

Hey, this is my first post in here. I thought I'd ask for passing tips, since I'm misgendered about 99% of the time :\

Pic 1
Pic 2

I'm 20 years old and I've been on T for almost 4 months now. My voice has deepened a little bit, but its in a range between low female and high male? I don't have any recordings of my voice, but I'm told by a few people that my voice is pretty androgynous.

Apparently I passed better when I was pre!T and my hair was a bit longer in the front? Because I had a particularly funny situation where I asked a man for directions once, but he wasn't looking at me. As he started to say "ma'am" he turned around, saw me, and stopped mid-word. I'm pretty sure because he was confused if I was a "ma'am" or not. Nowadays, though, I don't get any sort of reaction like that. Everyone calls me by female pronouns despite my name being "Vinnie" as well as my blatantly male form of dressing.

Sadly, if I cut my hair too short I end up looking like a twelve year old butch lesbian so I know cutting my hair won't help at all. (Though that picture is pre!T).

Ugh. Any help?

I think the reason why most people will say it's your funky colored hair is because more females seem to dye their hair funky colors than males. Once you start getting noticeable facial hair though I think that would override the funky colored hair. I personally look awful with short hair, so I know where you're coming from there. When I was in my 20s I had my hair all sorts of different colors as well and even when I was wearing all male clothing, or even introducing myself with a male name people would still think female. To me, hair is such a personal thing too and to feel like you have to change it for any reason is a bummer in my book. Most trans people seem to cave and just do what the "accepted norm" is. I'm a total rule-breaker in that department so not exactly the best advice giver!

Haven't really tried passing in public. Still nervous. Think I'll have any luck?

My apologies for the crappy selfie. I hate taking photos of myself.

Anyway, I've only just started trying to pass. I know I'm wearing women's jeans, I'm struggling to find any men's ones that fit me at all because I'm 5 foot 1.

I'm pre everything. I seem to be able to pass when it's dark and I lower my voice. xD Any tips?

It's kind of a hard picture to tell, but i think getting your hair tapered some on the sides would help, because your haircut kind of looks like a short woman's cut right now. Depending on your waist size, the boy's section might have jeans that fit, I am 5'2" and small waisted and that's where I've been having to go for most things, unless I get lucky and happened to find the one size 28 laying around. If the pants for your waist size are too long, it's not too difficult to hem them.

My hair is a women's cut, unfortunately. As soon as I move out I will be remedying that!
Boy's section is a really good idea, thanks. :D

Depending on how big your waist is, Levi boys huskys might fit well. Their husky are different than most other brands and I've found it's  the best choice for me- they've got the shorter inseams but smaller adult size waists.

Esmail, you look good. What country are you from? I ask because I think that's a 550D, which was sold in the US as the T2i.
